September 8, 200421 yr Everyonce in awhile I have a problem getting the ILS Frequencies when on approach, from the FMC. I don't mind that much anymore cause I have FS Nav and can look them up there, but it really should come up on FMC? I find sometimes I have to get within 10-15 miles of the airport before it pops up in the FMC as happened to me in ATL last night on 8L, and today I landed at JFK runway 13L and it never came up, even after I landed. I have latest Airac files loaded. Kind of a pain, if you don't have a data base of ILS freqs.
September 9, 200421 yr The ILS Freq should be available as soon as you enter the rwy at the arrival airport (can't remember the page right now I am at work). I am not sure why you think distance has anything to do with it???? George Morris

September 9, 200421 yr I don't think that was George's point. When you select an approach into your route then the ILS information is displayed. Also, you must EXECute it for it to display. September 9, 200421 yr Randy is correct on my point, in the FMC when you select the ILS you are intending to shoot, and hit the execute button, the FMC will give the ILS freq. George Morris
September 9, 200421 yr The FMC wont give any info unless it knows what airport and runway you intend to use. Having said that, I have never seen it displayed until I,v hit TC (Top of Climb) or slightly after. I have deleted an approach (Star) and runway and entered a different one because of wind conditions, no problem. The approach page displays the runway heading and ILS frequency. Sometimes it,s on the second page. I installed SP2 and have had 0 problems but some systems dont seem to get along to well with it.The only problem I see with the FMC is the way it selects waypoints to the runway. It seems to leave out the OM,MM, so I look at the approach charts and get them and dump the IM on the LSK next to the runway Then dump the MM on the IM and so on. Seems to give more lead time and a better setup if you arriving from the opposite direction than your landing heading.Good Luck
September 9, 200421 yr I follow the same procedure each time, but everyonce in awhile, the FMC doesn't want to give me the ILS Frequencies until way beyond the point where I should already be on the glide slope. Doesn't happen very often, but now that I have FS NAV it is not as much of a bother, since I can get the Freq from FS Nav. I just installed SP2 for the 2nd time and I am keeping my fingers crossed that FS9 works OK this time.
September 9, 200421 yr Still at work so when I get home tonight I will post up a process to display the ILS Freq "sooner" :-) George Morris
September 10, 200421 yr The following screen shot was captured using the following example:Flight Plan:KMSP1.RST..JVL.JVL4.KORDFL2901) On the ground set up FMC for the above flight plan2) Select rwy 4 on KMSP DEP page3) Take off from KMSP RWY44) At 5,000 ft engaged VNAV, Direct RST, engaged LNAV5) Cruise to alt FL2906) Start setting up for approach by entering ILS27R under KORD ARR page7) Clean up disco's on legs page8) Go to APP REF Page and should see ILS FREQ (captured the screenshot)I was well before my second waypoint, JVL, when I got this screenshot. FYI: This is a quick example and does not represent a r/w procedure.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90731.jpg George Morris
