September 10, 200421 yr Hi all !I noticed yesterday a very strange thing on my system: I made a flight with the 737-900, and nearly each minute I got some black clouds during a very short time (far less than one second). Not all the visible clouds are affected but only the clouds near my aircraft. The problems happens more often when taxiing. Even the taxiway and runway textures are black. When I'm using the spot view, the whole plane is white whithout any texture, but only when clouds/taxiway/runway are black. This happens only with the 737NG. No problem with the B1900, PSS, SSW, POSKY add-ons or default planes. Please note that I have resized clouds and resized taxiway/runway textures downloaded from AVSIM, so the FS "render to texture" option is checked. Aircraft lights (nav, anti-coll...) were "on" but I will try to reproduce this with lights off. This is not a big issue since it disappears even to fast to make good screenshots but I would like to know why this happens regularly and if some of you have the same problem.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90702.jpgMy system specs:P3-850MHz, 512Mb RAM, GeForce3 64Mb, Asus P3BF, SB Live Platinium 5.1, USR 56K modem WinXP Pro FR, DirectX 9.0c, Nvidia 61.77 FS2004 US, FSUIPC 3.30 reg, ActiveCamera 2004, FSNav, PSS, FSD, PMDG, SSW...Best regardsGeorges - IVAO Id 145418http://ggka.online.fr/ia/logos/iaslogo.gif ISO658F - http://isomba.airlines.online.fr/http://isomba.airlines.online.fr/pictures/uas.gif UAS104 (Staff) - http://www.uas-va.org/
September 10, 200421 yr Georges, from your specs it looks like it might be a graphic memory problem. That GeForce3 64MB card might be causing this anomaly. Not sure how to test this but hopefully someone will chime in with suggestions. http://www.precision...GX_Dev_Team.jpg PMDG Graphic Designer
September 10, 200421 yr Depending on how you have FS2K4 set up and what you have going in the background, the p3 850 may becomming saturated and can't keep up with the graphic updates. Looks like from the screen shot that the lighting attributes of the clouds are not updating fast enough as you move along.I would bet it is a performance issue. To test, make sure you have nothing running in the background and try pulling back some of the FS2K4 graphic settings to see if it helps the problem. George Morris
September 10, 200421 yr Pete, George, many thanks for your answers. I just made another flight (well a short one, offline) but I was not able to reproduce the problem again. Everything was fine. I may need the same weather. On my flight yesterday, I had a lot running in the background: Squawkbox, SBRelay, AI-Bridge, FSScreen... Performance may be the reason. I'll keep you informed if I find more about this. Most of the time I run all this online stuff on a second computer with WideFS.I know the GeForce3 is an old card, and the P3-850 is always satured, but I'm often tweaking around and my FPS lock (18) meets my FPS when using the 2D panel. I'm converting (DXT3) and resizing textures (like the wings to 512x512) when it's possible. I'm sure even the upcomming B744 will run fine on this system since I think 12FPS is enough for an IFR flight.Well if you want to see other screenshots of this artistic bug ;-), just look here:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90745.jpgBest regards.Georges - IVAO Id 145418http://ggka.online.fr/ia/logos/iaslogo.gif ISO658F - http://isomba.airlines.online.fr/http://isomba.airlines.online.fr/pictures/uas.gif UAS104 (Staff) - http://www.uas-va.org/
