September 13, 200421 yr The rudder on my 737NG twitches when the aircraft is stationary and a little while ago I couldn't even keep the aircraft on the taxiway. This is also happening with other aircraft. Take off is a matter of swerving from side to side until airborn when it all settles down. The weather's set fair, autopilot off and, so far as I can see, all is fine. What am I missing?Richard
September 14, 200421 yr It's your joystick. Try calibrating it again, if that doesn't work there is some settings you can make in FSUIPC to try and subdue the spikes. But it all comes down to a twitchy joystick. I've had the same problems time and again. 3 logitech wingman joy's so far. Luckily I got the other 2 free .. i'd never buy those again.
September 14, 200421 yr Richard,Make sure the 'Yaw' damper is off. This will cause the rudder to twitch on the ground. Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
September 14, 200421 yr Thank you for those suggestions. I have actually traced it to a little program called Cold and Dark downloaded from this very website. Having said that I found if I reset joystick calibrations the twitching stopped for the FS2004 default aircraft but continued with NG737, even with the joystick disabled and using keyboard control. Once the original FLTSIM application was restored to the Flights Other folder all is well.Is there a recommended method for cold and dark start for PMDG 737NG?
September 15, 200421 yr In addition to the other suggestions, you can try the FSUIPC settings to help smooth out the joystick issues. George Morris
September 15, 200421 yr Cold & Dark:1. Select default Cessna 172 as your aircraft.2. Position yourself at whatever airport and gate/runway you'd like.3. Fly now!4. Turn keyswitch on 2d panel to off to stop engines. Turn off all panel switches except the Avionics switch, i.e. leave that one on.5. Use to get the menus, then choose Select Aircraft.6. Select the 737 you want; cockpit will be cold and dark, so wear a coat of the weather's bad! HTH.
