September 19, 200421 yr When engaging the A/T in TO/GA for takeoff, I find that I have to continue advancing the throttles past 40% to full, else TO/GA mode will not operate properly. To clarify:Advance throttles to 40% via joystick control(or kb)Activate TO/GAContinue to advance throttles to Full/100% via joystick control(or kb) If I don't perform the last action, the throttles are underpowered, and the aircraft will not achieve desired speeds during takeoff and initial climb(I stalled and almost crashed recently because of this problem). Therefore, TO/GA mode appears to be dependent upon throttle setting. Is this the way the A/T functions on the 737NG, or is it something I'm doing wrong? How about the real aircraft? Thanks for your help,Frank
September 19, 200421 yr Hi Frank,Do you have the Autothrottle and Flight Director engaged?Check just above the PFD that when you press the TOGA button, TOGA appears.Ross Ross Marsh Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.2GHz 4GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX580 Windows Vista Home Premium 64x
September 19, 200421 yr Commercial Member Frank,Ross is correct. Are you absolutely sure that you see TOGA in the FMA ? If not left click again !Best,VangelisPS. Furthermore when on the ground and in TOGA mode the flight director should rise to 15 degrees at 60 knots.===================================== E. M. September 20, 200421 yr Hi guys,Thanks for your replies. Reading this at work, so I will have to wait till this evening to verify some of your questions.Ross, I sincerely hope I have the A/T engaged, or I'll be one very embarassed pretend pilot! :-).Vangelis, I should know the answer to your question because I realise how important it is to look to the FMAs for the state of the AFDS, but I don't remember checking in this case. Will verify all this when I get home. Thanks for your interesting PS. I certainly didn't know that!Geoff, yes, definitely in both cases. Thanks for your help. Will report back later.Frank
September 20, 200421 yr Does it matter which one I engage first A/T or the flight director...becasue yesterday my flight director would not stay lite?ThanksChad Moore
September 21, 200421 yr Hi again,Sorry for a late response, but I was away at the first Irish Flight Simulator & Aviation Conference over the weekend(I really enjoyed it!).Anyway, I did some flying last night, and I don't seem to have the A/T problem any more :-). Oh well, 'twouldn't be the first time I did something that caused me problems! Thanks for your help,BR,Frank
