September 23, 200421 yr Why why why? This is becoming a trend in certain flightsim products, and I seek to know why certain FS2004 add-on products refuse to work under Windows 2000, thus forcing the prospective buyer to spend even more.
September 23, 200421 yr You need to sign your name on this forum, thank you and spend a minute reading the forum rules. No one said it would not work in 2000, only that Win XP is the only supported operating system. I believe it does work in 2000 as some on the beta team use 2000. The reasons are pretty clear, many support platforms is to varied and then a developer spends as much time developing as he does giving support for the myrid of flight sim versions and various operation systems. Time that should be well spent focusing on the product's fine tuning etc..Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution! September 23, 200421 yr Ahhhh, well that clarification was very useful. Thank you. But surely you'd agree that the wording is ambiguous.Alvin Cheung.
September 23, 200421 yr Yes but really that is for your benfit, if PMDG stated it might work and someone bought and it did not work on their system it could prove to be a bigger problem. So it protects the consumer and gives a clear warning. But being around these parts for quite awhile I know that these products do work in 2000 ;-)Best Wishes,
Randy J. September 23, 200421 yr i think a lot of it is due to the ages of the operating systems, Windows 2000 is about 5 years old, and absolute eternaty in computing terms, there have been may new inovations with the newer sytems that allow for even better effects and stuff in the addon planes, most people including developers now use modern systems so can't resonably be expected to garentee addons to work on a sytem that is from the last century, also making addons work on olde systems would possibly rob us of all the inovations possible with the newer systems, after all we update our PCs so we can run better and more inovitive programs, don't we?Mind you it works both ways, the new stuff may not run on old sytems but then some of the old stuff will not run on new systems; I can no longer run NASCAR Racing 2, although strangly enough i can still run Cart Racing the last version of ICR2 by Papyrus, an software company sadly missed.
