September 27, 200421 yr HI,I've just been trying to buy on the PMDG website but notice that a) their security certificate has expired, :( the "secure" sales page isn't encrypted. While the first issue doesn't particularly worry me, the second one does.I've tried different browsers but each one confirms there's no security on the credit card entry page. What gives?Vike
September 27, 200421 yr Commercial Member Vike,If you check the Page Properties you will find that it is indeed a secure site. There are some display issues for the padlock symbol on certain browsers.RegardsPaul Gollnick :-cool Technical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
September 27, 200421 yr Hi Paul,Thanks for the quick reply - maybe the issue is caused by using frames? (perhaps padlock symbol is showing unsecure for the navigation frame?).It could be worth opening the secure page in a different browser because, you never know, you could be losing sales with this.Anyway, thanks for the confirmation.Vike
September 28, 200421 yr The issue will be one of (a) the "entry" page is secure but a cookie, image or other file is being loaded off a site that is NOT secure or from the same domain/ip. This is NOT a bug its that way for a reason. To stop a third party, like an adbanner using Javascript to lift your details.(:( the entry page is NOT secure, because it doesn't contain any sensitive information when it is sent to you over the Internet, it's just a blank form after all. Checking the :( is sometimes necessary with various payment processors unfortunately, the require you create the form of your own server. If this isn't the case then it's just sloppy design and very bad for user confidence.
