Anybody tried the ATI X800 card yet?

Featured Replies

Looking at the ATI website the latest card X800 is supposed to have twice the performance of the 9800 Pro I'm using. While I wouldn't expect to see twice the framerates, I'm wondering if anybody's gotten one of these cards and used it with the PMDG?

Hi Timothy,Upgraded from a Nvidia Geforce 4 4800 Ti to an ATI X800 Pro and I'm very pleased with it! Doesn't know though what kind of performance increase you would get going from the ATI 9800 Pro card.Below is a screenshot with my new X800 card and as you can see I have very good framrates (50-100+ in the air) and seldom less than 20 at a busy airport and that is with Ultimate Traffic installed, 100% traffic intensity and almost every setting high in FS9 and with 4X AA and 16X Anisotropic Filtering set in the device driver for the card. Also found out tonight that the performance and general smoothness in the sim actually increased by far when going from 2X AA/8X AF to 4X AA/16X AF, can't quite understand it but the difference was there and it was huge!So in short, I don't think you would be dissapointed with a new X800 card! All the best,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/92802.jpg

I had a 9800 Pro and now I have an X800 Pro. There is a noticable frame rate difference between the two cards.I also went from 512 to 1024MB of RAM, so that also helped.

I have gone from a 9800pro to a X800pro too, and there was a "reasonable" increase in both performance and IQ.Dan.

I have a ATI X800 XT. Bevor a NVidea Gforce 4. The changes are unbelivable. Everything maxed. The only negativ: dont let your wife find out what that card cost's. Hehe. The best on the market!!Kevin from Germany
