Bizzare malfunctions - long post

Featured Replies

Hi all,First of all, a little background info. The way I set up my flight with PMDG (the only one I fly actually - it's so good) is that I have number of saved flights in a cold&dark configuration with different airlines at different airport locations. Say, for instance I have one of Easyjet parked at Stansted airport, another one of Air Berlin parked at Berlin's Schoenefeld airport and so on.It is the setup of choice as I aim at maximum realism so loading a flight with create a flight scenario and turning everything off just to have it cold&dark is not very realistic at all. Now, the first thing I noticed is that fuel cutoff levers are in the idle position (yes, I know it has been discussed at this forum before and I know it's a FS9 limitation), but for worse the engines are running! Funny thing though - my fuel pumps are off and cockpit is cold and dark.Nevertheless, it does not take much - just bring the levers back to cutoff and we have engines spooling down nicely. No brainer.Other than this bizzare thing I have not had any other problems with this setup until last night (and I have been flying with this kind of setup for several months several times a week).I loaded up a flight at Berlin in a cold and dark situation. This time it was -700 series (as opposed to -800 series I usually fly). One factor that might be of some importance is that for the first time I loaded it up at night (in a sim of course LOL).First thing I noticed which seemed a bit odd was that after firing up my APU and bringing the APU bleed to on the duct pressure gauge is showing zero. I played with isolation valves a bit but it did not present any change.I decided to start the engines nevertheless, and guess what - they started with no duct pressure at all!Fair enough I said, maybe a little quirk.I got a clearance to taxi another weird thing happened - by moving my throttle lever in my CH Yoke slightly to 30%N1 I got the 737 throttles jumping up and down like crazy and engines still at idle.At this time I reloaded the plane via the choose an aircraft menu and the throttles started working as normal again. Takeoff was uneventful, but once I started my initial descent I noticed that my radio panel became inop. I was not able to change any frequencies at all. In desperation (as I was flying online with Vatsim controllers) I attempted to change NAV1 frequency via FSNav option window and I did it, yet the localiser never showed up on the ND, so I was in for a bit of hand-flown dead-reckoning.I do apologise for a lengthy post but just wanted to describe my experience in possibly the greatest detail.Gentlemen, please let me know where did I screw my PMDG up....!Before I go ahead and reinstall it perhaps there might be some valuable tips for this problem. Thanks a lot and enjoy your day,DomMy system specs:ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, rev.1.4BIOS Uber 1007 AMD Athlon XP27002x512MB Kingston PC3200 400Mhz in slots 1 & 2 (single channel)Seagate 40GB 7200rpmATI Radeon 9800+ (Catalyst 4.9)Watercooling system with 900l/h pump - blocks on the CPU and Graphics Board (35c startup, 45c load)Planar 19' LCD monitor via analogue (75Hz refresh rate)CH Yoke and Pro Pedals USB (windows drivers)PMDG -600-700-800-900 (with the current service packs).

I think most of your problems are related to the startup files you have saved. The tip off for me , is that you say the engines are running when it is supposed to be "cold and dark" I would try reloading the PMDG default "Cold and Dark" which is under the Select a Flight/PMDG/ Menu in FS9. After selecting that flight , make certain your engines are off. Then select the aircraft and check engine status again. Finally select starting airport, and save the flight. Now see if it works normally. Erase the faulty flights.
