November 9, 200520 yr Hi guysIf having entered a new or saved route into the FMC, are we still anble to use the inbuilt ATC system or do we have to make the flight without recourse to the ATC?An associated point has also been taxing the old (and I do mean old) grey matter, the dep and landing runways may not agree with the ones entered into the FMC. How do we avoid the conflicts that would obviously occur?
November 10, 200520 yr Hello Frank,(Assuming you are talking about 737NG and/or 747)It is possible and easy to use the ATC and the FMC flight plans at the same time. The flight plan in FS should be the same flight plan you enter in the FMC. What is not possible is to use realistic SID/STARs that the AIRAC data base provides because FS9 does not still support these.Having said that, you select the DEP/ ARR runways in the FMC once your ATC tells them to you. That's perfectly alright, except that the V-SPEEDs need to be (re)selected once you have done this. Also note that if you can guess which runway ATC will vector you to, then you can put in a STAR (or SID) manually in the FS9 flight planner. Then when ATC briefs you on approach, you can ask them for a specific approach (IAP) that you want, and follow the STAR + the IAP you selected from the FMC. Hope that helps.- Neeraj Pendse.
