October 11, 200421 yr I downloaded a SID for Gatwick airport. Using the Dover departure I'm supposed to be at Tunby intersection at 5000 or above and at 6000 reaching the DVR D33. Somehow these restrictions is not held, the plane just keeps going up and I end up at over 8000 when I'm at the DVR D33. Could this be because it's an older version of the SID, and what can I do to make it work?-MikkelEdit: I wanted to say that I got the SID from the navdata site just today.
October 11, 200421 yr Hi MikkelI read your post and would like to reply as EGKK is my "home base" for all my online flights...so give me a short while to set up a flight and try your SID and I will give you a proper answer when I have made a flightJohn Calleja John Calleja
October 11, 200421 yr Hello MikkelThanks for pointing that out, just tested it and your right. I have now uploaded to the navdata site a revised version of my file that fixes this problem and to my site too.Simonhttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/simon.butler2...usefulfiles.htm
October 11, 200421 yr Excellent news, thank you very much. I only fly out of Gatwick when I'm flying in europe so this just made my day. :)-Mikkel
October 11, 200421 yr Hi again MikkelI have made 3 test flights and these are my findings. My Sid for Dover was DVR8M. It has 4 restrictions.....det31 has a 180kt restriction, det29 4000ft, Acorn 5000ft, dvr33 6000ft. I programmed a flight from EGKK to EDDM. the first flight honoured the first 3 restrictions and ignored the dvr 33 just as you described so i made some investigations and here is what i found. Fist check on your routes page that the restrictions are in bigger numbers than the non restrictions to show that they are restrictions. Then set the Altimeter dial to a higher value than your highest restriction..in my case i set it to 10000ft, then make sure that you turn on the autopilot and VNAV and LNAV before your first restriction. I did all this and it still ignored dvr 33. I noticed that in the legs page dvr33 was in brackets and the description was sorta complicated. so I deleted it from the flightplan and just typed DVR33 then 250/6000 on the other side, so it was in big writing, cleared the discontinuity, flew the flight again and it honoured all the restrictions. So if any of your downloaded sids have names and restrictions in brackets on the legs page...delete them and manually enter with just the name and the speed and altitude. thats what worked for me and hope it works for you...please keep me informed.John Calleja John Calleja
October 11, 200421 yr Thank you John,I just made a test flight with the new SID and everything is fine now. You might want to download this also.-Mikkel
October 14, 200421 yr Hello Simon,I have another question for your EGKK SID. Taking off from rwy 26L there is a speed constraint at the first two waypoints of 180 kts.. Is this correct? According to my chart I don't see them, but you may have better information than I do.-Mikkel
October 14, 200421 yr Hello MikkelWithout looking at it, I think its there to make sure the aircraft keeps to the track, for those using VNAV, theres a few 180 deg turns at Gatwick that gave me a lot of trouble when initially writing the file. Strictly speaking it shouldn't be there and I can easily take it out if neededSimon
