Please....how do I activate the left forward panel?

Featured Replies

For some reason unknown to me my Captain's Outboard Display Panel (on the extreme left) is dead and dark while all the other panels function normally.I cannot figure out how to bring it to life again. Help would be appreciated.Cliff

Cliff,Wild shot from the hip here.Does the Zoom panel Outer DU work for you? Does the DU work if you make it pop-up? If yes to both above questions, my wild guess is that you have turned down the brightness on the DU too much. In the upper left corner of the DU you have two zones where the mouse pointer will change to a hand with + and a hand with -. If you click on the former you will increase your brightness and the latter will decrease it. Hope it helps,

Since when do those toggles work? I have never seen them work one single time. Just figured they were for show.

No,no,no PrestonYou are thinking of the wrong switches. THose you are thinking of are INOP as you say. I mean the mouse click areas on the DU display in the upper left corner. See attached picture. The outer DU is dimmed down using the click spots on that DU. I've marked out the area on the inner DU.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/94924.jpgHope it helps,

Unfortunately that panel remains dead despite, later, hitting "Z" to zoom it and despite clicking on both the plus and minus Mouse sign in the upper left corner of that screenI'm now using the combination of Shift + Z to monitor the information normally on the Screen. But that detracts from the pleasure of using the aircraft as it should be flown.Any other thoughts? With my thanks and regards,Cliff

That is one weird problem Cliff. I don't have a clue as to what could be the problem. Have you tried in both windowed and full screen mode? Were there any changes made to the computer when you first started to notice this?I would remove the NG and reinstall it. And if that doesn't help I would call support at [email protected]. Cheers,

Thanks for your continuing help Mats. Whether it's Windowed or Full Screen makes no difference so I've, as you suggested, written to ask "support" for their input. With my regardsCliff

It is amazingly hilarious, but I had NO idea that those clickpoints were there. They don't do much for me, since I don't have any use for them, but I still think that's pretty darn cool. Thanks for pointing them out.

When you say the Captain's display, you do mean the LEFT PFD as shown in Matt's screenie correct?Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/Animation1.gifCaution!
