November 4, 200421 yr Hey, Mats,Just echoing the other requests: Where do we get your Flight Dispatcher? Thanks,Keith

November 4, 200421 yr I'm going to chime in here and try to sum up the discussion on the use of the tables so that anyone who comes in can get it pretty quickly.1. For any given takeoff distance (how long it takes you to get airborne), there is a maximum weight the airplane can lift using takeoff thrust (takeoff thrust is a variable force that is automagically set by the airplane systems to compensate for pressure and temperature when you hit the TOGA button or advance the throttles to the stops).2. When you know your runway length, i.e. RWY is 4500 feet long, you can first correct it for wind (headwind makes the runway seem longer to the airplane, tailwind makes the runway seem shorter).3. You can then take the corrected runway length and use the table called "Runway Length Limit Weight" to determine the max load you can lift.To work it backwards, and answer the question "how much runway do I need to get this fat pig off the ground?":1. Know your weight. Know your OAT. Go to the table called "Runway Length Limit Weight" and find your weight and OAT, and then read off the corrected runway length. 2. Take the corrected runway length, and the wind (headwind is positive) factor, and use those to find the necessary runway length. Here's an example - 737-700- 135,000 lbs, 18 degrees celsius, 10 knot headwind.first table, 135,000 lbs and 18 degrees gives us approximately 5200 feet CFL (corrected field length).second table, 5200 feet CFL and ten knots headwind gives us... 5000 feet available runway length. Hope this helps!
November 6, 200421 yr Great summary and interestingly worked example, Tim. Thank you!Since the tables don't mention this, I guess we must assume a Flap 5 setting for takeoff?BR,Frank
