November 5, 200421 yr If I am using the FMC on the NG, do I load the caluclated V2 speed into the SPD window for takeoff or do I dial-in V2+20? What difference does it make? Thanks!Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
November 5, 200421 yr Hi Jonathan,Typically, you will enter the V2 speed into the SPEED window of the MCP. If you do indeed enter V2+10, V2+15 or V2+20 etc, it will make no difference unless you have A/T armed and you press either the LVL CHG or SPEED hold button - which I suggest you do not do!For example, this is the Take-off Procedure I use (adapted from Virgin Blue Airlines of Australia SOPs).1. At gate, F/D on and LNAV engaged.2. Set flaps, taxi out, upon entering active A/T is ARMED.3. Throttles advanced forward to approx. 40% N1, then TO/GA is selected.4. Climb at V2+15 (minimum), retracting flaps on schedule. Aimed to be 'cleaned up' (i.e gear and flaps up) by 3000'AGL and engage VNAV after passing 3000'AGL.If you like, I can go into more detail - just let me know.Hope this helps.Cheers,Jeremy Soulsby
November 5, 200421 yr You enter v2 ONLY prior to takeoff, you never ever enter anything else. Climbing you have choices, you can manually increase speed to flaps M speeds or engage a CMD in TOGA which will automatically increase the speed window by 20 knots (what the F/D is showing even with the window at V2). Best to manually speed up so that the transition is not to abrupt (pitching etc).Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J.
