Weird displays in PMDG 737 (all plane versions)

Featured Replies

Hello all,I just installed and patched the base package and the expansion pack for the PMDG 737 but I'm having a problem. Both the Captain Outboard Display and the Captain Inboard Display have analog looking gauges. I have installed the latest GDI+ btw. Compare the following 2 pics:The 1st one is the one I captured from FS9. The 2nd one is from a pic in the review that AVSIM wrote for PMDG 737.What seems to be the problem? I would appreciate if anyone could help me out on this. Thanks in advance!!Nico

Hi Nico,This is a feature. Go into the PMDG styles menu and change things back if you would like. Also, you may want to take a look at the 800/900 documentation. ;-)

Yep. This is one of the main reasons to upgrade to the 800/900: The different panel styles. Now, let's say you wanna fly an AA738. You can go to airliners.net and take a look at how AA has their displays configured (which partially looks like your second picture - you'll be able to tell the difference from the airliners.net photo) and set up yours just like in the airliners.net photo. You can even have the lower DU operational.Ok... you've finished your AA flight and now you wanna fly a SouthWest 73G. No sweat. Go to airliners.net, search for SouthWest panels (which will look like your first panel - this option is to keep their pilots familiar with the analog type flight decks I believe, so that they can easily switch to one of the older 737 models, like the '200). Go into the PMDG menu, and customise away until you get your displays looking just like the photo again.Enjoy your flights.

In the 737-600/700, Ive never been able to seelct analog gauges in the PMDG settings...

Yeah, those are the EFIS and MAP displays. Some airlines use these to avoid having to send all their pilots to train on the new glass cockpits. It's basically a cost saving practice. Go to the PMDG styles menu at the top where FSUPIC and other options are withing the sim itself by hitting the ALT key. You can choose EFIS/MAP or PFD/ND, and also change some colors and a few other features. Pretty nice having a choice!

"Now, let's say you wanna fly an AA738. You can go to airliners.net..."Or you can go to the PMDG styles menu and use the pulldown menu to select the airline you are flying. :-)

Ugh that bugs me!!! Why incorporate the features in the base package if they are not available unless you purchase the expansion set!?!?!?Dave Needham

>Ugh that bugs me!!! Why incorporate the features in the base>package if they are not available unless you purchase the>expansion set!?!?!?>>Dave NeedhamUhhh?

Hello all,Thank you for all your replies! I had a weird problem when I did the tutorial flight written by Fred Clausen. I was supposed to descend from FL390 to FL050 30n/m from T/D, but the descent was way too slow and thus I was too high when I reached the transition. I ended up aborting the flight. I'm pretty sure I followed all the directions so I'm a bit baffled. BTW, there was no weather (clear sky) in the flight. What's causing the descent to be so slow? Thanks again!

Ahh. THE Fred Clausen's Flight Tutorial. :)Which mode are you using to decend? Are you in VNAV? or using V/S or LVL CHG?

Thanks for replying. Right after takeoff (at about 2500ft), I engaged the autopilot and pressed LVL CHG. Then when I passed 4000ft, I changed the heading and pressed VNAV. After passing FL300, I pressed LNAV to let the autopilot fly the waypoints. I was on the above settings before the descent except for a HOLD about 250 nm before the T/D.Thanks again!Nico
