December 6, 200421 yr Hi,I am strongly considering purchasing the PMDG 737NG (both 600-700 and 800-900 versions). I fly some longer flights with my current 737 model, and I like to use the 4X simulation rate during cruise. I would like to know if I can fly the PMDG 737s at 4X speed without any issues. I've had payware addons before where 4X speed causes problems, so I just wanted to see what you guys had to say before I sunk $70 into the models, which quite a substantial purchase, in my oppinion. Thanks for any info. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully flying the PMDG 737s soon!
December 6, 200421 yr Hi Michael,I've been flying all versions of the NG for a long time now and have not noticed any adverse behaviour when running the sim at 2x or 4x.You may see the aircraft beginning a turn towards the next waypoint earlier than anticipated and/or overshooting then hunting a bit to reaquire the track but none of the bobbing and oscillating experienced with the "other" addon which you mentioned, which eventually led to a death dive. The PMDG NG is a great addon and well worth having. You may also want to look into FS2Crew as a "must have" for the 800/900.Cheers,Tony
December 6, 200421 yr Only use it when in cruise mode! And I've used x8 with no problems..Cheers......Doug
December 6, 200421 yr Oh man, one time I set up a long flight, right after I engaged VNAV and LNAV (still climbing) I put sim rate on 32X, wow!! Up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up, side to side and side to side... Wow! So yes, only use 2X or 4X, and only when you're crusing!
December 7, 200421 yr Yup, my omission :)Only use the acceleration feature in cruise mode! Why would you want to use it in anything other than that since the main reason we use the NG is for how close it is to the real thing? In any case, the most interesting parts of any flight are the bits before the drinks and meals are cracked out..:-hahCheers,Tony
December 7, 200421 yr The only issue I have seen with it is that the FMC will give you an insufficient fuel warning sometimes. Watching on the progress page, it will show the projected fuel load for your destination at 0 lbs. Once you drop out of warp, it will come back to the right values. At least I haven't run out of fuel ...yet!!:-lol
