B1900 panel question

Featured Replies

hi there. autofeather - i'm pretty sure they light up when the autofeather is armed and the props are above a certain rpm, not sure which though.ice light - this would be the wing inspection light. it lights up the leading edges of the wings so the pilots can see if there is any ice building up on the wings at night. i seem to remember that if you turn it on, you can actually see the wings light up (in fs)hope that helps!kim steingass

Is there visible icing in game?Charles W.

Hi Kim,>i seem to>remember that if you turn it on, you can actually see the>wings light up (in fs)Cool! Thanks. :-waveSidney Schwartz KPDX

The PMG B1900 has become my turboprop of choice. It's a real pleasure to fly, especially when landing. :) There are a couple of items on the panel that I'm not familiar with though. Can someone tell me what these are for? I'm guessing the autofeather indicator lights go on when autofeather is armed and prop rpm goes above a certain percentage. The little "ice" light switch I can't even guess. Thanks in advance for your help.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/101261.jpgSidney Schwartz KPDX

Microsoft Flight Simulator offers no visible icing, but as described above, the wing light will illuminate the wing as a means for the pilot to check. As for autofeather: Autofeather eliminates drag from a propeller in case of an engine failure during takeoff or go-around by feathering the prop automatically. Autofeather uses sensors in the engine (varies depending on engine type) but the functionality is basically the same. If the engine fails- it dumps oil pressure from the propeller hub, causing the prop to feather- thus eliminating drag..... saves the crew a few seconds of having to do it themselves...Vin ScimonePMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg

Hi Vin,Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with how autofeather is supposed to work but I've not seen those particular warning lights on other panels. They seem to go on when a) autofeather is armed, and :( ??. Prop rpm reaches X? Torque reaches X?Sidney Schwartz KPDX
