Boeing I guess has chosen to do away with the eyebrow windows on the 737NG. They say with todays nav capablities they are not needed anymore. Here is a link for the pic of the very first one without the windows:http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2005/p...pr_050126h.html

I don't really get the connection between advanced navigation capabilities and eyebrow windows. Presumably they provided added visibility during VISUAL maneuvers.If the advanced navigational capabilities are so advanced, why have any windows? ;-)Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)

They originally were used to be able to locate traffic above but became useless with today's TCAS systems. In addition to that, it's been hard to locate any traffic in IMC conditions. Furthermore pilots have been complaining about the sun shining into the cockpit through these eyebrow windows. So, Boeing decided to do away with them and could save remarkable 20lbs of weight :).
