July 14, 200223 yr The other day, I landed the AA 727 in Churchhill, Manitoba, Canada for a fuel stop. The airport has a paved runway 14/32 (or is it 13/31?) which is the longest, and a gravel 07/25.I don't remember what direction the wind was from, but it should have been appropriate to send me to the ILS runway 31 because it was the longest runway. However, ATC decided to vector me for the visual runway 25 instead, and as a result I came within feet of running off the end of the runway after a not-exactly-great landing.I did not touch this airport in AFCAD or do anything to close 13/31(14/32?), so the standard "longest runway" rule should have been effective here.Any other exemptions to the "longest runway" rule? Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
