OT: Airline Survey (now closed)

Marc,I took this survey but found it strange. Why repeat the same identical question 3 times?. Also since this survey was designed by academics I was expecting more ingenuity. For example they could show us 3 different cabins (say computer generated) of 3 different low-cost airlines with different amenities, different pricing and then ask questions which one would you prefer, etc. It would not only be more fun but collected data would be more precise.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

Michael,the three repeated questions are because of people interpreting words differently. As such, this important question is repeated, but with three different answer scales to be certain the answers are internally consistent. On the paper survey, the question is only asked once with the three scales, but due to the limitation of the online system, the question has to be repeated.There is a manipulation present in terms of different pictures. But survey participants are only allowed to see one version so the answers will not be biased (between subjects analysis).Sincerely,

Marc, I took the survey and didn't find it strange at all, having worked in statistical analysis before. Often it's those subtle differences in wording that yield the most fruit. I'd be interested in your results, if they could be made public down the road. Having surved in both capacities, I'm convinced that the most exciting field in the transportation industry -- second only to "turning wrenches" on an active flight line -- is having a seat at the table where airline pricing and route structure decisions are made.
