Airac 0505

I really need to install this. I have the 4 series that came with PMDG 800/900 but I am afraid to install an upgrade given what seems to be a complicated if not hazardous process that is needed to install it. There seem to be any number of horror stories on thsi forum about that. Does anyone know if there is an automated programme that does this sort of thing reliably? Reason for this is that I have found a magnificent route planner suggested in another forum that does wonderful world wide flightplans but it uses the 0505 cycle.
