November 21, 200520 yr Hi all,I was on the ILS runway 6R approach into Kansai Intl. when a pesky AI plane was on the runway, I went ahead and disconnected the autopilot and added GA thrust at around 250 ft. Anyway when I was trying to use the autopilot again, the APP switch wouldn't come undone, so I was unable to use the autopilot at all. Does anyone know what the procedures are for using the autopilot again after a missed approach?Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD

November 21, 200520 yr Author Oh, that simple huh? Lol Thanks,Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
November 21, 200520 yr I think you need to turn of BOTH the Capt and F/O's FD (assuming you had both on to begin with...) in order to reset the APP function. Additionally, you have to have both FD's on for Cat II/III Autolandings.
November 21, 200520 yr Is this how the real thing work?? I mean, too much work to do on a missed approach...ThanksPaulo
November 21, 200520 yr Yes, this is how the real deal works. Both the Pilot and F/O need to turn off their FD's to reset the APP function. This is especially true for a G/A while in Autoland. Resetting the FD's resets the autopilot computers for the next approach. Each FD drives its respective A/P computer while in Autoland because each computer is isolated from the next.
