Hi PaulI fly lots of IFR flights and may be able to help. What I feel went wrong for you from what you describe is that you are trying to enter a localiser frequency into the vor radios which i don't think is acceptable procedure. The ils locked in because when you enter your destination airport and runway etc the ils (localiser) radio will auto tune and be available for capture when you are close enough to it to respond(it can be seen on the radio page of the fmc when you are close enough). That is why it appeared in your pfd, and locked onto the ils when it did. The format you described, xxx.xx/xxx is good for inputting a manual ils frequency int the ils radio, but not good for inputting into the vor radios. Hope this helpsregardsJohn Calleja

"The format you described, xxx.xx/xxx is good for inputting a manual ils frequency int the ils radio, but not good for inputting into the vor radios."Just to clarify... This format CAN be used for VOR radios, John. But, of course, you shouldn't try to enter an ILS frequency into the VOR slot :(Cheers.Q>
