May 23, 200620 yr while flying from one destination to another I get an FMC message that reads, "enter IRS Position" Okay, so I'm a greenhorn, but I need your help. Where do I find the IRS poistion and where does it go?Thanks in advance. This forum is great!R.J.Adams
May 23, 200620 yr wait waityou said you where in the air and got this message? this should be impossible since you will only see this message on the ground while aligning your IRS. But I guess you had everything ( attitude indicatior ,compass etc. ) working so you should not get this message. The IRS position is actually your current positionin lat/lon. You enter this position into the position reference page in the FMC since the IRS needs to know its exact position to align.
May 23, 200620 yr perhaps he turned off his IRS for fun whilst airborne! Or, played with the IRS knobs after realignment. OR, perhaps he just took off w/o IRS aligned, and decided to make a route airborne. i dunno. just thinking of what it could be.never heard of that prompt airborne. that would be a scary prospect in real life, wouldn't it??tomas Tom James
May 24, 200620 yr Phew..for a sec there, I thought it was cause you didn't pay your taxes on time and they were looking for you :)
May 24, 200620 yr Seriously guys, I figured it out. The problem comes whenever I save a current flight,ie; JFK-EGLL. When I recall it back up the IRS is off and nav out of alignment. See. I not crazy after all. blibily, blib, blib.RJ Adams
