I have the batonIs it me or does it seem like Tornado is trying to find a way to close that loophole, lolAs per the NOTAM i dont get to respond to post i see on here until i get the baton and that is only once every three hours so i have lots to cover. It seems to me the majority has agreed that the final flight should be a multiplayer and that it look like we have two people who are willing to host it at about 6pm EST my feeling is that we probably wont get off the ground at exactly then because we wont know who is hosting till the last minute. Scabbo will not give it an ok or a no, he will only arbitrate any disputes and no one has put a clear contest to my possession of the baton. Once again if you did and it was sucessful all it would do is put the baton the same place it would be if the flight was valid. Now i would love to particapte in a dress rehearsal although i cant go all the way to heathrow with you because i have the baton, some company in the air would be very welcome! Now to answer Lance, yes i do sleep, but as i am a college student on summer vacation, i can afford to stay up for this, besides if i gave up the baton, what would happen to it, would you make a run to heathrow, and if not does it matter if someone else holds the baton? It seems like the framework for what will happen is there now it is just a matter of hammering out the fine points which should be done by the time i post the pirep for this flight, so i can post in my pirep the conditions of the multiplayer flight. Those who want instructions on how to join or host a multiplayer flight should refer to kellym's post in this threadHere are the basic's of the multiplayer that i think have been agreed upon1. that it will take place at about 6pm EST hopefully with about 15 minutes grace time to let everyone file in.2. that the military escorts should depart from a nearby Air Base as to avoid cluttering the airport however this may not be possible if there is no tracking available for whoever has the military planes3. That someone please take the baton out of my hands!4. That there will be a dress rehearsal for all those who want to partcipate hosted by kellym5. That everyone agrees that who ever answers the next to last Location Post is someone who can and will particpate in the multiplayer flight to Heathrow (no strike, i have the baton) and hopefully is one who will abide by the desires of the whole..not required but desiredSee you all soon!P.S. In Reply to Lance's post in the other thread that goes thusly, "That Btd or whatever his name might as well just have done the whole flight by himself?? What the heck??? Back to back?? What do you do, just sit at your keyboard refreshing every second until you got a hold of the baton and now no one else can have it???That's pretty lame."It seems to me you are the type who would go and finsih the tour yourself, you seem to be missing the whole point of why i am doing what i am doing, nothing for my benefit i have seen Sandtoft field inside out by now, but only to give everyone here a chance, maybe you need to be a bit more reflective before you call something or someone lame

First, someone made mention of me or Tornado Wilkes signing off on whatever plan you the community of pilots comes up with. As stated before, as long as all the (already stated) rules are met, there is no nod of the head required by either me or Mr. Wilkes. At least one person (and please forgive me for not noting names ... I'm on a brief lunch break at work) is under the misunderstanding that there can ONLY be 2 volunteers for the jet-flying. In fact, the baton carrier can have as many figher jets in accompanyment as there are pilots who would like to fly them, as long as that number is NO LESS than 2. Myself, I'll be in my Archer II hoping to keep up. Heck, maybe I'll even have the baton and everyone in the jets will get a chance to practice flying escort for a slow bird! But that's only a maybe, as it will depend on who actually gets the baton.Someone else started miscalculating the times involved. Someone ended up with a time of 11PM Eastern, which became 4AM for someone else. I think that Mike was offering to do it at 3PM Pacific, which is 6 PM Eastern, which is 11PM GMT. Hawkeyez mentioned a Central Time Zone time, and that's one hour earlier than Eastern time. Finally, Tornado Wilkes wrote:"Just out of a matter of interest, further to NOTAM #1, neither of the recent location posts clearly identifies the destination, which if landing back at the original airport is known as "local.""He then suggested that I might have an opinion about it.Indeed I do.I'll use two precedents in this. First, the idea that some law-interpreting folks have been known to look away during a minor infraction if doing so will greatly benefit the larger community. For instance, letting a small time user go in exchange for getting the identity of a large-scale supplier. In that case, the benefits of getting the "big guy" far outweigh the minor benefits of convicting the small-timer.Second precedence: In the first Challenge, the umpire (Tornado Wilkes) absolved all strikes upon reaching the first goal, Victoria Int'l. In that vein: Due to our arrival in England, I wipe the slate clean of all strikes. This includes the 1 strike against btd_jfk.Further, for not posting adequate PIREPs (including the destination airport), btd_jfk earns 1 strike for each offense, bringing his NEW total to 2.This has the net effect of complying with the established rules in a fair manner and awarding strikes as necessary, following precedence, and still taking the benefit to the community into account. btd_jfk is, in my opinion, doing us a service. I'm curious to see if anyone can sneak the baton from him and do circles of their own! :)If anyone has comments on this, please feel free to voice them. Not because anything would change, but I'm curious to see how it's received. :DBack to work for this guy.--Tony

At this moment it looks like we only have one. However, I am determined to go home at lunch and learn how to fly the Mirage (or die trying :>) so we will have no less than 2. If it turns out someone else wants to try (and it probably would be a good idea, since the last time I tried a jet, the Lear, I ended up spinning out of control in less than five minutes) we might have more than 2.>Someone else started miscalculating the times involved. >Someone ended up with a time of 11PM Eastern, which became >4AM for someone else. Yep, just to be crystal clear -- I am offering to host the final flight (the Real One) at 3pm Pacific Standard time, which is 6pm Eastern and 11pm GMT (I like to repeat this). Or about five hours from now (from when I'm posting this).I will at least have a host session going then -- since I haven't heard from the other Michael you can well assume there will be at least one session available, it will be posted here, and you can join (or not) as desired. If the Baton holder joins another session (other than mine) I will shut mine down so there is no confusion.I will also hold a "trial" around 1pm PST (about three hours from now) for anyone who wants to practice joining an MP and flying in that area. Just watch out for my jet! (I can't promise I won't be crashing :>)

Hy!Sorry to Scabbo and all for confusing you concerning the time-zones. I see that most of us in the end accepted 6pm Eastern, right?IMHO the last remaining question is the identity of the host. I clearly suggest kelleym.Assumed that proudwings will circle, too.Just my 2 cent.Danny(near EDFU)

Mike...You'll probably find that the F-16 handles a little better at slow speeds. Use the panel from my earlier post and and an F-16 posted to AVSim with the repaint "Boys from Syracusse".I'll "try" to join the group if I can avoid all manner of traffic after getting off work tonight. If you see a T-38 Talon comin' yer way with full afterburner and the moniker "HAWK88", that'll be moi !Otherwise, it's been a real blast doing this RTW Challenge. I've met some new "FlyPals" and hope to link up on a MP flight sometime in the future (I have yet to try one with FS2002 and I'm dying to try).If there's another RTW Challenge might I suggest we add some twists to it with different restrictions to route, aircraft, etc... just thoughts. Also, I've had a number of requests for a few of the aircraft I've used here as well as some of the ones I've mentioned. But due to file sizes and email accounts it's tough to just email these aircraft. I may try to throw up a webpage with ftp links to the complete arcraft for all to grab... details will follow sometime.Enjoy GangHawkeyez :-kewl

I took off this evening around 7 local time and the crowd here seemed to be at a fever pitch. I checked my plane for any more stow aways and then headed up and towards the west again. It was beautiful too see the sun going down on the English countryside, the only thing that spoiled the trip was my baton...i think it is a lil ungrateful for all i have done for it...it sits there mocking me...bah its time will come! After a half hour i brought her back around for an easier than usual landing and EGCF again, hauling that baton, that mocking mocking baton with me...hmmm well its now up for grabs its all your problem! the baton is at EGCF after another hour long jaunt using 8 gallons lets go guys!

i got the batonit seems things are coming along nicely and that this should be my final flight. Whomever is hosting the session should have it posted an hour in advance for everyone's sake in this threadAlso i believe that the actions of our umpire were incredibly fair, and that from now on i take great care to stick to the letter of the law.If you havent all guessed by now i am very tired and hope for an exciting and expedited conclusion to this event! The person who claims tha baton after the upcoming pirep will probably be the final baton holder, please be able to and do particapte in the multiplayer eventAt this point the final details must be ironed about it the next couple hours, good luck to who ever can grab the baton next!Anyone who is hosting a practice session please post yout ip i would love to join you, i would join tornado but it is in restricted airspace so hopefully someone will come up here to sandtoft. Also if it is just a practice multiplayer session please explicitly say so in your post, thanks
