KJFK Parkway Visual 13R

Featured Replies

Hi folks,I'm looking to have a go at the KJFK Parkway visual approach to Runway 13R in the 747.Anyone done this in the sim or in RL and care to offer some guidance on how to best manage the approach? - Final landing config: configured before, during or after the turn?- Autopilot use, where do you disconnect?- Anything else?I have all the heights off the approach chart, I'm looking more for handling technique, cues, hints, and so on.

I’ve done it as pax twice in the last month (A320 and A300) and spoke to the pilots after. LDG config around the time u pass the abandoned airfield. Both times I went for 13L. Turned final at ~400ft

Thanks for the advice, I flew this one last night and it's quite a blast. With Kai Tak now long gone, this is one of the more interesting predures available. Plus the departure off JFK 31L is similarly exciting, with an immediate left turn oafter gear up to follow the shoreline out to CRI before resuming own nav or acquiring vectors from ATC.For those here that haven't tried it, give it a go, it's quite a fun wee approach! Just remember to watch the airspeed in the turn to ensure it doesn't decay.
