Engine + fuel balance problem

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm currently on a cargo flight from PHTO -> NSTU and the #1 engine faulted about 30 mins ago and shut down. I could not get it started again. Now the port fuel tanks are showing an imbalance and the fuel will not pump in to the other tanks - I've tried cycling the pump switches to no avail.Currently fuel load is:Main1 = 30Main2 = 28.8Main3 = 28.7Main4 = 28.9Main1 FWD+AFT is on yet the fuel EICAS page does not show a green flow line to Main 2.Help! things are going to get distinctly lop-sided in the next hour and the landing would be hair-raising. I'm looking into dumping the fuel periodically to maintain balance.any advice?thanksChris N.

Here is a flight save in case anyone wants to see for themselves.rename to 158042.fltthanks

Sorry Chris I could not get your flight save to work.Did you get a screen shot of the overhead panel or EICAS fuel synoptic?CheersSteve

The fuel will not pump into other tanks. It only pumps to engines. If a fuel imbalance occurs then you need to reconfigure the pumps and crossfeed valves to get fuel from the tank you want to lower the fuel quantity in, to the engine or engines that will use it. In this case make sure the tank 2 and 3 overides are off too.CheersSteve

The corresponding 158042.WX is missing, so it doesn't load correctly.

Also, won't PMDG saved situations rebalance the fuel in the tanks automatically?Cheers.Q>

Yeah I think you are right Q. Does it reconfigure the pumps and crossfeeds too?CheersSteve
