737 NJ autoland

Featured Replies

HELLOI was following an autoland just a short while ago... Everything went well, until the approach mode switched to VOR LOC mode, and the plane stopped following the glide slope. I needed to land the plane manually... Just a short while before landing, i had the "Approach VREF not verified" or something like that appearing on the FMC. I checked everything, and it didn't seem to me there was anything wrong.Does anybody know why i had this problem and what to do?thanksmat

Can you explain in more detail your autoland procedure? The FMC message should be "Approach vref not selected".In that case you must open the approach page of your FMC and select a landing flaps configuration (flaps 30 or 40 for the 737).That will give you a Vref speed (a reference speed for landing, normally Vref+5 is a good one to set in your MCP). After that selection you will have in the speed tape of your PFD the signs: up,1,2,5,10,15,25,30,40 that will help you in the flap deployment procedure for approach.Jose Luis.

Well, a little self-correction to my last post, if you have selected flaps 30 for landing in the FMC, you will get on the PFD speedtape:up,1,2,5,10,15,25,vrefJose Luis
