FS9 Starts only after the second attempt
I am not able to tell you now, probably it was a typo. Things are changing quickly. Today FS9 starts always at the first go, no matter if the internet cable is in or out. I can not really understand anything.

FS9 Starts only after the second attempt
Well, friends, I have new data for you to analize: I normally start FS9 with the internet cable disconnected. Today I forgot to unplug the cable, I double clicked on the FS9 icon and...voilá, FS9 started. So, the facts: 1.- Computer not connected to the internet: FS9 starts on the second attempt. 2.- Computer connected to the internet: FS9 starts on the first attempt. What's your opinion about it ? (Some weeks ago I made a massive W7 update, including Service Pack 1.)

FS9 Starts only after the second attempt
Ian, The last thing I remember to have installed is SWEET FX, some (not many) weeks ago. Have you also installed it ?

FS9 Starts only after the second attempt
W7 Fully booted. It does not make a difference launching via shortcut or exe file, FS9 only starts the second time. Well it is not a big problem, but could be a symptom of something wrong inside the program.

FS9 Starts only after the second attempt
Well, in the past this usually only happened after not having used FS9 for some days. But now, every time I start my computer and launch FS9 the sim does not run. When I open the task administrator I can see a "FS9-32 exe" there, consuming 0% of the processor. So, I cancel the task and launch FS9 for a second time...and yes, this time the sim opens and runs normally. (Windows 7-64 bit SP1 ) Any opinion about it ? Thanks.

Runway and approach lights during day
That's a question I've been asking for years. Yes, it can be done (in some UK2000 sceneries lights are on the whole day) but it has to be hard coded in the scenery.

RWY visible distance
Good afternoon, My question is: At what distance (in daylight and good visibility conditions) should a runway and papi lights be visible (drawn) in the sim? I am asking it because my experience is that for most sceneries (pay or free) at least 10 miles out I can see the runway with enough clarity to turn off the A/P and go for a visual and manual approach, but with Aerosoft's Madrid-Barajas Mega-Airport (which I must say is a piece of art) the runways only appear (pop up) at about 3 miles from touchdown (that's only 1,25 minutes at 145 kts). Before that distance, only a blurry shadow shows in front on my windshield. Any expert opinion ?. Thanks. Jose Luis. HP G62 Intel Core i3 4 Gb Ram Ati mobility Radeon Windows 7 home 64

What is Prepar3D ?
It seems that (new?) simulation products have been recently launched. The already discussed "Flight" by Microsoft and another one I've found navigating the net: "Prepar 3D" by Lockheed Martin (the aircraft builders?).They say it is "only" $ 499 per license but it does not seem to offer anything that FS9 or FSX didn't offer before except a ten times higher price...or maybe I'm wrong?.Anyone has more info about this product?.(Please move if wrong forum.)

Can dynamic objects be permanent ?
Good morning,I bought some weeks ago the Mega Airport Barajas (LEMD) by Aerosoft, and I can only say it is an amazing rendition of the real thing.Just one problem, when approaching the airport (say 4 miles out) dynamic objects (buildings and other things) start to pop up like mushrooms after the rain, giving a very unrealistic sensation, even the runways are only clearly drawed when being very very close.I know that behaviour is for performance helping, but is there any way to make those objects permanent?Expert help will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.FS 9.1 - Win7-64 - HP G62 - Intel Core i3 2.27 GHz - 4Gb Ram - ATI Mobility Radeon 512 Mb.

ISD Airports some words of praise. (for older PCs)
Well, I never paid much attention to car traffic, but what I admire is the level of realism of the runway textures and ground markings in ISD airports, that real-like view in final approach !!!, not the one of those plastic default textures.

Many thanks for your kind help !!

Which FSX should I buy ?
It is not that I'm leaving FS9, no !!!. But after the release of the PMDG NGX, I'm serously thinking of the possibility of buying FSX and installing it. I have entered the Microsoft online store and found that there are 3 versions: Standard, Professional and Gold...oooops, which is the one to buy? It seems the Gold version is the only with "acceleration" (what is that?). Can I install FSX in the same computer where I have FS9 installed or there will be conflicts between them ?. Thanks in advance for your advice.

No ILS-frequency for rwy 36 lemd
There are two 36 rwys in LEMD: 36R and 36L.None of them is a landing runway, they are only used for takeoffs when the airport is in north configuration, so, no ILS there. You see:LEMD in north config. 36R and 36L for departures - 33R and 33L for arrivals.LEMD in south config. 15R and 15L for departures - 18R and 18L for arrivals. FPS at night and RWY lights at daytime
Just two questions for FS9 experts: 1.- What is the reason why night time is more FPS eater than day time ? 2.- Is there any way to switch on rwy lights during day time. By default FS9 turns lights on only when very dark or under very low visibility conditions. In some sceneries rwy ligths can be turned on with some frequencies in the aircraft radios. It should be very nice to have sequential strobes going on not only at night in some airports. Thanks in advance.

PMDG B737 or IFLY B737 for FS9?
At last somebody that has my same opinion ! See this post in this same forum: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/343106-reducing-rudder-sensibility/ And what I have modified in the IFLY-737-800 to make it less sensitive: Ok, I modified the aircraft.cfg file for the IFLY 737-800 in the [flight tuning] section:rudder_effectiveness = 0.50 // it was 1.00elevator_effectiveness = 0.70 // it was 1.00No FSUIPC calibration.FS9 Joystick sensibilities about 25% (except throttle 100%) with a small null zone. From being a jerky aircraft, now it behaves like a charm and hand flying it is a total delight, having the stable and soft movements that (I presume) an airliner should.signed: José Luis

Reducing rudder sensibility
Thanks for your great information Hans. Well, I use a Thrustmaster joystick with a twisting handle, and there must be some connection between the rudder and the front wheels in FS9 while on the ground because they move simultaneously when I turn the handle. I'll try what you said in your post.

Reducing rudder sensibility
I´ll make a complete flight from LEVX to LEMD (about 300 nm) in the next days and will tell you about it.I can only say that the sensations and the aircraft behaviour were totally new for me and of course extremely good. ( I was, in fact, about to keep the Ifly 737 in his hangar and go back to the PMDG one).

Reducing rudder sensibility
Thanks for your help. Yes, I have a registered copy of FSUIPC, but still the result with rudder control is not satisfactory. as I said, I'm testing the effect of changing the rudder effectiveness value in the aircraft.cfg file of the IFLY-737 and LD-767. I will post the results.

Reducing rudder sensibility
I've always found that even large or heavy aircraft like LD-767 or PMDG-747 move like a Cessna while taxiing or during takeoff roll. I'm referring to excessive rudder sensibility on the ground. I've tried with FS9 calibrations or via FSUIPC, but the result is still very unreal, you have to be very careful to avoid having the plane swinging from side to side of the runway. My question: will changing (decreasing) rudder efectiveness in the flight controls section of the "aircraft.cfg" file be helpful ? Thanks in advance.
