Which FSX should I buy ?

Featured Replies

It is not that I'm leaving FS9, no !!!. But after the release of the PMDG NGX, I'm serously thinking of the possibility of buying FSX and installing it. I have entered the Microsoft online store and found that there are 3 versions: Standard, Professional and Gold...oooops, which is the one to buy? It seems the Gold version is the only with "acceleration" (what is that?). Can I install FSX in the same computer where I have FS9 installed or there will be conflicts between them ?. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Go with the GOLD. It's a wise investment. Acceleration is an add-on that brings Carrier Ops and other goodies. I don't have FS9 installed, but there are many users who have both installed and have no problems.

MSFS

Unless there is a significant price difference, I too would go with Gold (even though I don't have accelleration). Don't buy the standard edition. IAN

You may as well go with Gold.....G

I´ve got Professional and it´s all right. Just what you need. If you´ll need the carrier ops, you can get acceleration for a some money later. And yes, FS9 and FSX can successfully run on one machine without interfering each other.

There is no Gold version of FSX! "Gold" is only FSX Deluxe + Acceleration together in one plastic case. Buy it here for $30. Cheers, - jahman.

Is Deluxe the same as Professional?

ROTFL! :(

There is no "professional" FSX version. Take a look at this. These are prices straight off from Amazon, in US dollars. FSX Standard: $17.13 FSX Deluxe: (Like standard, but with a little bit more features like GameSpy ATC and some other extra planes w/ the G1000.) $26.03 FSX Gold Edition: (Acceleration + Deluxe) $28.26 FSX Acceleration Expansion Pack: (Requires Standard or Deluxe) $24.65 I definitely recommend the Gold Edition... happy.png

Well, that´s not truly correct. I´ve got one but this is the same as the deluxe edition in the US. Here in Germany it´s called "Professional Edition".
