After taking a 16 month Sabbatical form Flight simming. I have put fs9 back on my new computer and found that I have been away for way too long. I am now having to relearn all the little tips and tricks I use to know. After some trial and misses I am getting the hang of it again. I do have a couple of questions to ask thou 1. Is there still addon and other freeware/payware being made for fs9 or is it all FSX stuff now. 2. I need to get fsbuild back up and running. How do I get the updates for it. Serial key no longer accepted. What :( ) Thank you for your time and patience. Denis Davis BVA1920

I have recently reinstalled my windows and I reinstalled my fs9 and active sky. But the active sky won't connect to the flight simulator. I also tried installing REPro and WOAI, they also wouldn't install. I don't get what the problem might be and I've searched untill I can throw away my laptop. I'm running windows 7. REPro always says an erros has occurred and active sky doesn't say anything but if I click on lock to FS position, it won't do that. So I know it is not connected.

Out of the blue, FS9 refuses to start. The splash screen flashes a fraction of a second, then FS9 closes. There is no BSOD, no error message, no event in the Windows event log. It seems to just exit cleanly. The task mgr shows FS running for a couple of seconds. I have made no (known) changes to my FS since my last flight. What I have tried: - restore Windows to a point prior to my last good flight - disabled all non-stock sceneries (although it does not get as far as renewing the scenery index) - deleted FS9.cfg. A new one is indeed generated but with 0 bytes. - removed SweetFX - run another FS9.exe that I had backed up when installing the 4GB patch - malware scans My next step is to try in Safe Mode... if I am ever able to access Safe Mode in W7! Has anyone perhaps encountered this and found a solution? Thanks, Phil Windows 7 64. FS9.1. Nvidia

Merci d'avance Amicalement, Dominique

Hi all! So I downloaded Megascenery Pacific Northwest for FS9. It installed properly and everything. Everything was done with admin permissions. (I'm running windows 8). However, its just not working. Like, its just not working. I load up at Tacoma and its all default and nothing has changed. I've messed around with the scenery library and it won't do anything either. I'm pretty much at a stand still. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for your time and help! A. Ford

Hello everyone, I was asking myself if there are any discounts for owners of the FS9 version? In my case that would be the Boeing 747-400 (+F) and 737. Greetings F.

bargain Boxed Bargains from Just Flight
JustFlightScott posted a topic in The Bargain Hunter's Shack
From now until the end of April at Just Flight we have reduced the prices of over 30 Flight Sim Add-ons to just £4.99 / €5.95 / $7.99 Many people ask why we don't include boxed products in sales and many people ask why no FS2004 products. So, every product in this sale is compatible with FS 2004 and a good number work in FSX too. Take a look now: http://www.justflight.com/category/boxed-bargains You have until the end of April to take advantage of these ridiculously low prices. -
Took the iFly on a short journey for Southwest Virtual. Certainly not perfect, and I know I made a handful of mistakes, but this is only my third ever flight in the 737NG, so play nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JDHkp-EkhI

Hello all, I have an older system. I put it together in 2008 to run FS9 "good" on a scale of "poor" to "great". I really havent done much to it since then. I was always using hand me down CRT monitors until I got a tiny Dell LCD that someone was throwing out. Then I came across a really nice Samsung SyncMaster LED monitor, got rid of the VGA cable, plugged in the DVI cable and life was good for a few weeks. Then the video card blew, too old and used too much for such a strain I suppose. It was an EVGA 8400GS 512mb card. I replaced it with a brand new EVGA 8400GS card only this one has a gig of memory. $32 for this new card versus the almost $200 I paid for the old one at the time, great deal. Everything works fine, but I am having some odd displays of airplane textures in FS9. I looked in the Nvidia control panel and during the installation of the new card and drivers (version 335.28) all my previous settings were back to default, apparently. I would imagine my issues lie somewhere in there. My current values are as follows- Anistropic filtering - Application controlled Antialiasing/FXAA - Off Antialiasing/Gamma correction - On Antialiasing/mode - Application controlled Antialiasing/setting - Application controlled Antialiasing/transparency - Off CUDA/GPUs - All Extension limit - Off Maximum pre rendered frames - Use the 3D application setting Multi display/mixed GPU acceleration - Multiple display performance mode Texture filtering/anistropic sample optimization - Off Texture filtering/Negative LOD bias - Allow Texture filtering/Quality - Quality Texture filtering/Trilinear optimization - On Threaded optimization - Auto Triple buffering - Off Vertical sync - Use the 3D application setting As you can see in this screenshot, the default Cessna is dark and the door is oddly illuminated. And in this one from the default PMDG MD-11F FedEx livery, the main cargo door and "something in the back" is displaying weird, including the engine cowling textures. All my in-sim display settings are the same since before I changed the card. I havent noticed any scenery textures displaying oddly, but I havent spent a whole lot of time looking. I am kind of stuck with the system I have at the moment indefinitely, and I really would like to have FS9 run at least as good as it did before I had to make the switch. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So I'm trying to create scenery and traffic for a local airport with a skydiving operation. The scenery was the easy part, the jumper dumpers ehhhhhh not quite as easy. Well easy but the way I have planned out seems time consuming to me. What I was planning on doing was creating a flight that leaves every 15 minutes starting around 10:00 and contiuning until 19:00ish (make it 16 maybe for randomization) to another airport maybe 5 miles away and have it do touch and go's for 10 minutes then come back. But I'm using a freeware program called AI flight creator which does allow me to do repeat flights every 1,2,4,8,12,24 hours plus weekly. The problem is that it creates a new airplane each time I do this so I will have 6 airplanes sitting on the ground and one flying. Which for a small airport with a few other flights in and out is a bit of a problem. Do any of you have better solutions or am I just going to have to sit and peck at my keyboard for a few hours?

I've been away from simming for a while and just came back. Nothing has changed in my computer. I loaded Fs9 and then selected a PMDG 737-600. I downloaded a flight plan from simroutes. I was able to get the FMC to recognize the FP and then proceeded to program the FMC. WRONG! It took about 1-2 minutes for every transaction to be loaded. Constant hangs. After 30 minutes, I gave up. I reinstalled the PMDG 737 package to see if that would help. Nope. I can fly the plane without the FMC but thats no fun. What the heck is going on?

hey everyone, I'm new, from Australia. I fly FS9 because I haven't been sucessful in getting FSX to run on my computer smoothly. Might try again soon though. Anyway, I've just gotten into PMDG and am wanting to fly a simpler plane then the B747. I'm going well trying to learn the b747 but I'd like to try something simpler before continuing to try to learn. I'm very close to getting the b1900c but was looking at the 737. I know it's been discontinued but it's still available in the extended download. My question is: Can anybody download whatever is in the extended download service on PMDG, or do you need to have purchased the original product beforehand (meaning that I won't be able to use the 737)?

Hi all, I started to noticed that the upper level SAT temperatures in FS9 varied slightly to those being displayed in the winds aloft pane of AS6.5. To find out of there was a particular trend, I collected upper wind data from four different airports (KLAX, KORD, SBGL and FACT) and compared the wind data in FS9 to that being downloaded from AS6.5. For each level (FL030, FL060, FL090, FL120, FL180 and FL240), the temperature in FS9 was between -3.5 and -4.5*C cooler than AS6.5. In total I have 24 data points and they all display the same difference. To me this indicates that the difference is not random. Has anybody else come across this and can explain what is going on and how to fix it. I have 100% accuracy for upper wind set in AS6.5 too. Cheers. David.

Merci d'avance, Bernard.

With a decade to mature, and with all the add-ons, gizmos and gadgets available to us, FS9 looks nothing like how it started out 10 years ago. FS9 has aged like a fine wine. Why do we still fly FS9? Why not?? How's your FS9 looking lately?? (Post your screenshots, AVSIM screenshot rules apply.) Cheers!!

It has been a while when I first posted shots about this project. So much you may have thought the project was ditched... absolutely not! These has been a lot going on...! Again it will be a FS-9 and FS-X Freeware aircraft (FS-X edition to be DX10 compatible, do not even ask about P3D...). Let's get straight to the shots! General Layout! The model is fully mappede already, but since the textures contain only UVW map screenshots for now they look just awful, and I disabled them for the shots... Flaps & Spoilers. Everything animated with actuators included. Again for Flaps & slats, with jack-screws, guide rails and everything keyframed! Engine fans! Love these JT-8Ds!! Main Gear. Also check out the thrust reverser cascade vanes!! RAT. If it is 3D modeled, it will be in the systems modelling as well! For the Mercure the RAT provides only hydraulic back-up... Details of the nose. PItots, probes and windshield wipers. The latter are animated as well, and shown "fully out" in the picture. They will affect VC rain effect and will animate in 2D panel too... Tail detail, showing an open APU intake. I will figure out a way to get the APU functioning in FS... (FS-X has APU but it is junk...) Also, I have the Flight Dynamics at an advanced state (may be considered ready except for a few details like temp and press indications, easy to set-up) A few notes: Engines hold constant Nx % values for given throttle settings. E.G. set to Max Cont. N1 and forget. Most FS aircraft like to have RPM all over the place as you climb and accelerate... NOT here!! Engine power calculated from real data tables advanced aerodynamic predictors used (like DATCOM and AVL, with help of the Flight Dynamics Workbook). The Mercure does not feel "on rails" like a lot of FS airliners. It however flies smooth and gentle, but improper handling will result in oscillations. It was nicknamed "Le chasseur de Air Inter" for a reason: you can roll it, although this is a forbidden maneuver... Feels a tad under-powered during takeoff (same engines as 732 but heavier), but once the wheels are off, it CLIMBS. you can set max climb and hold 3500 FPM for a while All mach tables filled in. The more data I added, the better it behaved at altitude. A Dassault product it is! An aerodynamic marvel! Stall is 160KIAS clean, 110KIAS full flaps (numbers for full weight). Can land on fairly short runways, but the benefit is negated by the required take-off run... Stall behavior: gentle at start, just let go of the pressure. max AoA is 12° only, but not easy to reach! A mild wing rocking may be observed prior to stall (buffet). During turns a mild wing snap may occur. Force the stall and prepare for an unrecoverable flat spin ... Next up I will texture the external model, then work on the interiors. Last, the Virtual Cockpit, 2D panel, and gauges/systems! It may be a while again before you have more news on the project

Hi everyone I have the PSS 757 (bought from Just Flight as 757 Professional) and have decided to reinstall it after a few years without using it. Everything works fine, except for a small detail: every few seconds, my FPS "spike" down - I'm locked at 60 and they go down to 50. This doesn't seem much, but it's enough to cause a noticeable stutter which is very annoying. I've tried with lower fps locks, but the same happens (40 going to 30, etc). I searched around for similar problems and fixes (removing the VC, lower EFIS settings, etc) but having tried them there is no change, so I'm assuming they're not causing the problem. Also, the spikes happen in every view, inside or outside. Has anyone had and was able to fix this problem, or might otherwise suggest an approach to fixing this? Running FS9 (of course ) in Win 7 64-bit, ATI 5870 card, latest FSUIPC and AIRAC cycle. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Antonio

Hi everyone. Let me explain that I am not very computer savvy.!!! I have just purchased a brand new gaming computer with windows 8.1 64bit, loaded my favorite sim Fs2004 only to find that on the final screen the relibable Cessna does not appear, as infact do none of the aircraft. Have I done something really stupid? Is there a fix? If there is please can it be simple to understand. Fingers crossed Atki54

I thought I would create this topic so I can share with you guys the liveries I'm working on  In fact, this first one was made some time ago. Now you can also enjoy it, if you have the QW 757 of course. If you're fancy for some cargo flying in style, you can grab it <HERE> Anyways, a lot more to come! (i hope) Like this odd-one from Ryanair! Cheers guys! Attila
