PMDG/AIRAC Navadata Loading in FS9

Recommended Posts

Guest Rake7575

Back to FS9 after a couple months with FSX (no FSX compatible squawkbox--and no PMDG (the very BEST). For airline flying, can't beat FS9 with PMDG and Squawkbox3.1.Since coming back it deems that PMDG/AIRAC (navdata)loading takes longer to load than I've seen before on the FS9 menu screen (the PMDG moving slider box loading navdata). As I recall, initial load up times were pretty fast--is this a result of the new navdata--over 100000 fixes loading up etc? Is there a way to speed it up?Thanks in advance.RakeAMD FX-60Nvidia 7950 GX2 (1GB) video4GB ultra low latency DDR RAMRaptor 150GB HDDell 24" wide

Rake-You know- I still don't have a copy of the new navdata format- i'll get in touch with Richard so that we can test with the same data set you have and let you know. One thing i do recommend is to ensure that you are aggressively defragging the drive. (The basic windows defragger is not enough...) I use O&O and defrag under the /NAME method- and it speeds things up wonderfully for me...I'll let you know what we find out.

I've been using the new navdata for a while now and the load times, if anything, are shorter not longer.

Hi,as Dave said, it should be shorter and for me it looks like so. The AIRAC file size of the new EAG source is a little bit smaller as with the old DAFIF source. The reason is, that in the old DAFIF source, there were many outdated fixes ...Richard
