November 15, 200718 yr Hi,I've just bought the new 747X few days ago and been having lots of problems with OOMs and CTDs. With only 2GB of RAM on my system I installed the hotfix(KB 940105) released by microsoft to address the memory switch issue. But the OOM and CTD problem persists. So to resolve it further I decided to upgrade the RAM on this system to 4GB. I just added two matched pair of RAM (1GB each) but in system configuration from windows it only shows that I have only 3GB(3026MB) of RAM. I went into the BIOS it shows that I have 4GB of RAM installed populating all the channels.Does anyone have any idea is to whats going on here, or what I'm doing wrong.Khurrum
November 15, 200718 yr Commercial Member If your 32-bit system shows that you have 3GB installed, then that's all you can get (my system shows the same). You won't see 4GB installed until you move to Vista64 (which won't help much, as the apps are all 32-bit at the moment). Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
November 15, 200718 yr Lefteris,Thanks alot for your prompt reply. Does that mean that I wasted my money with the fourth 1GB stick. Things would have been the same if I would have just gone for single IGB of stick to make the total RAM installed on my system to 3GB.Khurrum
November 15, 200718 yr Commercial Member Fortunately, you didn't, because dual-channel works better (even though the system won't necessarily see it) speed-wise.Plenty of information online about that too! :-) Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
November 16, 200718 yr Even in Vista 64 bit, only certain motherboards show the full 4 gig. Usually its between 3 gig and 3.5 even though theirs 4 gig physically there. I can`t recall which boards they are, just some more useful info I read while I was looking around.Reider
