December 25, 200718 yr HiI need some clarification about air speeds. In a flight from Porto to Heathrow I've notest that in the primary Flight Display the Current Airspeed Display was showing a value of 245 knots, at same time in the Navigation Display the values was GS (ground speed) 485 and TAS(true air speed) 474.Well I can understand the difference between GS and TAS but I thought that the Current Air Speed was a value near TAS...I will apreciate some explanation about this..Thanks

TAS and Air Speed (IAS = Indicated Air Speed) can differ vastly - the higher you fly the more they will be different. You may do some search here or on google on this very topic - this is a frequent point of confusion for non-pilots.Michael J.http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/9320/apollo17vf7.jpg Michael J.
