Asymmetric Thrust During Taxi

General question..I've heard different things from different people, some say it's ok, some say it's not... Would an airline pilot use asymetric thrust on a 744 to ease turning in some circumstances, perhaps turning at the end of a runway for example to taxi back along the runway to a terminal. Craig,not knowing the specifics of the B744, what I can tell you is... this is depending on the aircraft type. Some allow it, some do not, others require it, and so on. Whether or not you need or can do asymmetric thrust depends on the position of the engines and the position and construction of the landing gear.On the MD-11 it is a required procedure for either a turn immediately after brake release or when doing a 180 degrees turn on a 45 meter runway.Asymmetric thrust may also be used at pilot's discretion during line-up.Regards,Markus
