For the 747-400X, the manual states to set the IRS Selectors to NAV then ALIGN, and leave here until the counters reach 0. I tried it both by setting them to ALIGN and NAV (per a suggestion in a lesson) but when the counters reach 0, they continue with -1, -2, etc. The ND does not show the map. I am doing something incorrectly. What's the correct procedure for setting the IRS ? I would like to know how to start it up from a "cold and dark" state.Thanks,Zach

Zach,Set the IRSs to NAV and leave them there. Oh. And don't forget to enter the present position into the CDU. Otherwise you will be "lost in eternity".Hope it helps,
