Im definetly not a 744 pmdg expert, extremly far from it but i think that if your manually using controlling throttles the n1 limiter wont stop you from going past the green lines, I think it only works when autothrottle is on.Gerry

You would be correct, the A/T would have to be switched to on. Also you should turn on the F/D ( Flight Director ). In addition while on the ground you have to engage TO/GA by clicking on the screw next to the A/T so the PFD indicates N1.In the air click on speed.
