July 15, 200223 yr PIC pretty much stole the show at the VATSIM Convention that just concluded in Toronto. Haroon Anwar had the 767 Pilot in Command up and running for the full duration with several willing PIC pilots taking turns standing in. Not only did PIC steal the show, but we had great representation from the forum there as well. I had a fantistic time in Toronto and want to thank my Canadian hosts, particularly Rob Hall, for a very fun filled 3 days. So I am safely back at home now and need to sleep for the next two days straight.THANKS!
July 15, 200223 yr It was a pleasure to meet you Mike.I hope you are busy reading a certain manual =)All the best,Dan Pergau
July 15, 200223 yr ...and what a great time it was - terrific to put faces to the names and meet new people from all over the world. I only wish we had more time together as there were so many interesting people and stories to share, I feel I only scratched the surface and there were several people I wanted to chat with but never found the time. I must admit that as I watched people drive away on Sunday, I began to get a very bitter-sweet feeling in my upper torso (I have no heart I am told)...I felt very sad about it being all over now, and there was so much more I wanted to do/talk about with such a fantastic group. Watching Mike B drive away, I really started to feel down as there was much more to be done and said. Opportunities to meet people like this come 'few and far between'.I'll pull myself together soon...and sorry I did not fly last night...g-friend issue ;-)Until next year....Rob.PS - Dan, Mike - my pleasure to play host...again, I just wish we had more free time...it's this bloody work thing getting in the way again.*********OPEN INVITATION TO ALL VATSIMmers...if you need to stay in Toronto, I will guarantee you the lowest possible (employee) rate at my place, Comfort Inn Markham (right next to CYKZ-Buttonville). I will also offer a further discount to PIC pilots because I can ;-)Happy Landings.
July 15, 200223 yr To quote one of the classics... slightly modified by yours truly:And what happened then...?Well...in PIC-ville they sayThat the Grinch (AKA Rob)'s small heartGrew three sizes that day!And the minute his heart didn't feel quite so tight,He whizzed with his 767 through the bright morning lightAnd he brought back the PIC767 packages! And the CARA in-flight food for the feast! And he... ...HE HIMSELF...!The Grinch carved the CARA in-flight first class roast beast!
July 15, 200223 yr PIC 767's, Kangaroos, and lots of burnt out controllers...what a hoot...I am now beginning to feel withdrawl from the action...Sunny, Dan, Bill, Eamonn, William, etc, etc put in mega hours on line, you are all hero's.Rob.
July 15, 200223 yr Maybe that's it, withdrawels from the action level. And I thought the shaking was just because my blood/alcohol levels were finally starting to zero out.
July 15, 200223 yr Hi Mike,It was your car driving away that made it all seem so final...the fun was over...until next time.Hope to see you flying tonight.Hope your delay at BWI was not too boring.Rob.
July 16, 200223 yr "*********OPEN INVITATION TO ALL VATSIMmers...if you need to stay in Toronto, I will guarantee you the lowest possible (employee) rate at my place, Comfort Inn Markham (right next to CYKZ-Buttonville).I will also offer a further discount to PIC pilots because I can"Makes me feel like taking an early vacation and jumping on a plane right now Rob ;) I wish.Any of you guys still fly the Sun 1500Z slot ? I look for you but not noticed anyone in a while. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
July 16, 200223 yr 1500Z (10:00 AM local) on most weekdays is a tuff time for me to make unless I am on a vacation day. Weekends are another story but summertime takes a heavy toll on my daytime flying. In another 6 to 8 weeks the weekend time should free up a bit and hopefully I will be able to catch up to you from time to time and start posting a "Sunday - PIC on VATSIM." Regards,
