strange problem regarding the bleed air system..

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I'm writing about this strange problem I'm experiencing with the bleed air/air conditioning system during preflight. Never got to write about it until now. When I load the "dark cockpit" (KSFO-CYYZ First Delivery) or when loading the a panel state wherein the APU is already turned on, there seems to be a lack of pressure in the bleed air system causing none of the packs and recirculation fans to work. The only way I can get the pneumatic pressure to normal is through (1) starting the engines and then shutting down, or to get at least 1 pack working, to shutoff one isolation valve.Anybody with the same problem?help much appreciated!thanks in advance!http://www.mydestiny.net/~michael8/genavbanner.gif

Hi, I might have misunderstood the question but as far as the recirculation switches go these are electric powered switches independent of any pressure present. May I sugest that you check the power section of the overhead panel to ensure 1.you have a source of power, 2. that the bus ties and the utility bus ties are switched on.Hope this helps, thanks robin.:-)

Is the APU bleed switch lit up? Sounds like the APU bleed-air is (closed?) and not getting into the system, but once you start the engines the engine bleeds kick in and viola, you have pressure. Also, what are the packs set to? For my preflight I leave one on, one off. That generally hovers (with APU switch lit, isolations lit) around 20psi for me. Then turn it off for engine start.Any chance of a screenshot?P

By any chance are you using Radar Contact when this happens?I had the same problem with the 767 and Radar Contact. I was setting my plane up to cold and dark and then loading the Radar Contact adventure. It seems that when the adventure loaded it tried to bring the cockpit alive with the engines running. Reloading the Cold & Dark cockpit from the Pic menu worked OK but then I would get very little duct preasure with the APU running. The only way I could fix it was to switch the engine switches briefly to GND and then back to off.In order to avoid this I load the Radar Contact adventure first before I load the cold and dark cockpit.

I've had this happen as well. If you have a different aircraft than the PIC 767 set up as your default aircraft, you may see some inconsistencies.I've haven't noticed any problems if I have one of the default MSFS aircraft as my default aircraft, but some third party ones (the PSS Airbus in particular), makes the bleed system go all screwy on the PIC 767.Try creating a flight with the default Cessna. Once you're in-game, switch to the 767. If that works, save that flight as your default flight.Good luck!Jon (KSEA)

Mike:Yes, I had the exact same problem with the panel. The way I got around it was to load one of the other panel configurations (like before "ready for taxi", or whatever), then I shut everything down, and configured he pit the way it ought to be when it's cold and dark. Then I saved the situation, and made it my default startup in FS2K2.It's been working fine ever since.James
