September 7, 200223 yr What is the proper way to start the engines in the PIC767? I alwa ys get frustrated switching the indictators to "GND" on overhead panel and them struggling to start! They usually never do. I have to end up using Control + E.Thanks in advance, Drew Andersonhttp://www.dr3w.net/flightsim/
September 7, 200223 yr Sounds like a stupid question but have you done your cockpit preparations before starting them???Matthias
September 7, 200223 yr Have you tried following the PIC Normal Checklists (pages 1 through 9?), Drew? There are, no doubt, shortcuts, but following these will give you a better idea of how real pilots fly their aircraft ;-)If you have any problems, I recommend posting a picture of your overhead panel (the moment before you select the start knob to "GND") on this forum so we can see where you are going wrong.Cheers.Ian.
September 7, 200223 yr I guess I'll review all of the manual again. Maybe I am just not patient enough? How long should it take to start the engine after moving one of the engines to "GND" position. Drew Andersonhttp://www.dr3w.net/flightsim/
September 7, 200223 yr Fuel cutoff switches (located under the throttle)?Packs switched off?Kind regards,Stephan Haas
September 7, 200223 yr Drew,It only takes about 10 seconds or so for the right engine to spool up enough to open the fuel valve for engine start. After starting the right engine, the left side takes a few seconds longer for some reason. Either post the picture as Ian suggests or you can also look for me on VATSIM tomorrow evening and message me. I see your ID number is 838784 and it looks like you have done some controlling also. I will be flying as AAL327 and would be glad to walk you through the startup procedure as long as you don't catch me on a approach procedure somewhere. Sounds like all that is wrong is you may not be shutting off the PACKs.
September 7, 200223 yr The fuel cutoff switches are in the correct position, and the Packs are set to auto.Drew Andersonhttp://www.dr3w.net/flightsim/
September 7, 200223 yr >The fuel cutoff switches are in the correct position, and >the Packs are set to auto. The checklist tells you to switch off your packs for engine start, Drew ;-)The APU may have difficulty supplying both the Packs and the Engine Starter with sufficient bleed air. Switch both Packs off to allow the engine to spin faster (Ensure that the N2 value is above the magenta (pink) line before adding fuel).Cheers.Ian.
September 8, 200223 yr hey Andrew, also ensure that all three isolation switches are ON. and the packs OFF, like the other posts already say. Denis Kosbeck KPHX
