November 17, 200223 yr I guess this is a serious remark. How do I fly and arc with/without use of the A/P, but without use of the FMC? Should be possible, shouldn't it?Regards,Jan van Bekkum
November 17, 200223 yr You can fly the DME ARC manually using the following method. Tune the desired VOR station to NAV1 and change RMI to show VOR L. Enter the ARC as published on the charts. You know you are on the ARC when the RMI is pointing 90 degrees to left if you are flying counter-clockwise or to right if you are flying clockwise and the DME indicator is showing the desired distance from the VOR for example 10 nm. Now you make small corrections to your heading to keep the distance in that 10 nm and the station on the 90 degrees angle. Something like 0.5 nm differences from the desired distance are acceptable. You should also tune the exit radial from the ARC to NAV1 and turn HSI to VOR mode. When you reach the radial exit the ARC as published.Flying ARCs especially manually is very difficult but also very fun.

http://mikael.svly.net/mikael.gif

fisd.fsnordic.net]
[/TABLE
November 17, 200223 yr What a coincidence this post is... I just flew a DME arc into Cairns, Australia this evening! Except for having to programing them in, the capabilities in PIC are fantastic...Phil Geddes
