Learning PIC 767

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.. I recently bought 747 PIC & I love it..Before I even opened up the box and installed the add-on, I read both of the PDF Manuels, And I need help..Ok I understand how to use the AFDS & LNav & VNav, But what I don't know how to do is have the plane start decending at a certain point.for instance.. I made a flight from KORD to KCLE (Cleveland Hopkins), Ok what i dont know how to do is setup an autoland, I have my plane at FL330. I have it in VNAV and it follows the waypoints perfectly. But I don't know when to decend, and setup for autoland..Any help would be GREAT!Sorry I'm still a newbie at this..Eggy

Eggy,The best way to learn PIC is to try it in 'pieces'. You don't have to do everything at once during a single flight - LNAV, VNAV & autoland. They all have nothing to do with each other. Why not try first using the panel with no LNAV and VNAV. And you can easily do autoland with no need to use FMC. When you set yourself up for ILS just press 2 or 3 CMD buttons and autland is engaged (you must do it no later than at 1500 AGL). The transition from cruise to descend to approach is a difficult one and requires some planning. But you can still practice autoland flying circuits above airport at 2000' - in my opinion the best way to sample all features is to do it in small steps.Michael J.
