October 28, 200223 yr Hello people,An old computer recently passed out and I found myself with a surplus monitor. I would love to use it with PIC, but when it comes to hardware I know virtually nothing at all.So here's the deal:I have two monitors, one PC with a GeForce 2 MX-400card, one unused PC with a functioning graphics card (no idea what card it is, though). Is it possible to connect the second monitor to my computer and use it with PIC? And how do I do it, in that case? Basics please. Thanks for any help...
October 28, 200223 yr Commercial Member Yep - very simple.Slap the second video card into the puter.Connect the monitor.Turn on puter.Puter should recognize the new card.Configure the monitors through desktop/monitor setup.Tada! When using with PIC, you must undock and drag throttle/fmc/overhead, etc... to the second monitor.Works like a charm with SB & FSNAV as well.DSCVA3339 The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums
October 28, 200223 yr A few fine points to note: I'm assuming that your 2nd video card will be PCI since only one AGP slot may be used per motherboard. Depending on your OS and board, you may need to set the BIOS to treat the PCI card as the primary otherwise the 2nd card may not be usable. Upon booting, the OS will then recognize the AGP card and you can then configure your primary/secondary monitor as desired. Also note that you will not be successful in having outside views displayed on your #2 monitor. Only use it for panels, utilities, etc.
October 29, 200223 yr I use an AGP primary and a PCI secondary card with WinXP - can put outside views on second (PCI) monitor without any problems -- just undock and drag 'em as with the overhead panel, throttle, and FMC. Of course, the effect on frame rate, unless you have a really fast box, is another matter...Rob
