December 17, 200223 yr That would be the APU air intake door. On the real aircraft it closes when the APU is shutdown. On the flightsim model, however, this door is not linked to the operation of the APU. The opening/closing of this door has been assigned to the same combination of keys that opens/closes the cowl flaps for a piston aircraft. I cannot recall this exact keystroke, but maybe someone else can can help out??Regards :-wave,Chris BrunnerCYVR
December 17, 200223 yr With one of the P.I.C. patches (the external hardware one I think) the APU intake door is in fact linked to the APU operation. When you start the APU this intake opens and stays open during operation. When the APU is shutdown the intake closes.I'm using a GMAX model, perhaps that maked a difference.-=MB=-
December 18, 200223 yr Heads up...you will all want to stay away from the 3rd party hardware patch unless you have the MCP hardware and absolutely require it. There have been several threads on the issues with the patch...beware is all I am saying.Rob.
December 18, 200223 yr well, as with anything else, read the forums first before installing the patch. I however have the patch installed, and I do not have a single problem. But it is good advice to read about potential problems first, then if you are so inclined, try it yourself. If you have problems with it, then simply re-install the PIC.Lagaz.
December 19, 200223 yr What I've seen so far after installing the patch* Cabin Doors message in the EICAS if they are open* The APU Air Intake opens and closes depending on APU operation* THe warning window (telling you failures are enabled) that pops up every time you start a session some times appeared in the background, so you needed to switch tasks to close it. That's fixed also.Don't know what else
December 19, 200223 yr what else....- The APU produces power at an unrealistically low RPM% / starts too quickly.- The uneven fuel burn is no longer...both engines burn the same, which is also not realistic. There are a couple other issues, I forget what they are. Read the threads about the 'discoveries' with the 3rd party patch. Myself and a few others jumped at it, then spent 4+ hours un/re-installing the PIC767 to get rid of it.Your call.Rob.
December 19, 200223 yr For two years, the uneven fuel burn was considered a bug by everybody. And now that this is fixed, you're telling us the bug was not a bug :-eek ???Friends, you will kill me ...:-hangBest regards,Laurent Crenier_____________________________767PIC Panel co-designer
December 19, 200223 yr Et al, I never complained about the uneven burn, ever. I also never supported any requests to have totally even fuel burn added to the PIC. I recall several threads here from real pilots saying how realisitc it was to have a slightly uneven burn. No offence was ever intended in my statement, I hope that is also realised.Rob.
December 19, 200223 yr I never complained about PIC767 for FS2000/2 at all for any reason at any time....ask anyone who knows me ;-) Why the squirming?PIC767 continues to be the leader in MS-FS add-on aircraft bar NONE two years plus into its 'mission'. I have been tempted down other avenues, only to realise, there is no replacement for the PIC767.For those who chose to nit-pick and make silly demands on the PIC team (formerly known as) resulting in unecessary/unrealistic changes to the PIC-perfection, shame on YOU! Laurent, I feel your pain. People demanded and you provided. I will not post again regarding the 3rd patch or my opinions of it. As one of the Founding Father's of PIC767, you are owed a huge debt of gratitude for the 1000's of hours of enjoyment received. Over and out.Rob.
December 19, 200223 yr Rob,No one I know has consistently carried the PIC banner higher than you my friend. And I doubt that very many have enjoyed the product more than you and I. It kills me that when we try and offer so much information and feedback on our posts that sometimes (often for me) they don't get understood in the context that we intend. We would never make it as politicians, we just say/write whats on our mind too often.Post on partner, post on...
