PIC panel/Opensky

Featured Replies

I have installed the PIC Panel in Opensky's 767 everything worked great except, when setting up a flight and then hitting "Fly Now" everything shows up, but the panel and computer are froze up, nothing works. Now this happens, maybe 60% of the time the rest it seems to work OK. Has anyone else had this happen and know of a fix. Thanksjim in NM

Jim,I am very confused on what you mean when you say you have set everything up and then hit "FLY NOW". There is NO such option on my FS2002 setup.I fly the PIC/POSKY setup as my default plane. When I start FS2002 my PIC767 comes up. I do the preflight, taxi out under RADAR CONTACT ATC control and takeoff as a normal pilot would. I don't know what a fly now option would do.I have about 1000 hours flying this panel and have used the POSKY UAL767 merged for about a 1/3 of the time. Please explain in more detail what you are doing. Can't fix a problem that does not exist :-(CheersBob Johnson

Maybe you're still using FS2000? All FS2002 users will be familiar with the display shown in the screenshot (note the 'Fly Now' button in the bottom right hand corner). As to the original problem, it may be that the screen with the startup tips is showing up invisibly. To fix this, open the file 'B767W.ini' in your FS2002 root folder, and edit the line 'TIP_AT_STARTUP=1' to read 'TIP_AT_STARTUP=0'.Hope this helps,Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Gosta,Good point for Jim, I don't start FS2002 from that screen. I totally forgot about this screen. That still should not freeze his computer however unless he has a startup situation that is corrupted. Thanks for the help, but would like to hear more about his situation.CheersBob

Hi Bob,it's not the FS startup screen that's causing the problem, it's the PIC 'Quick Tips' screen that shows up by default when you first load the panel (and every time thereafter, unless you ticked the 'don't show quick tips at startup' box). I think it's a glitch somewhere in the display engine that displays the screen invisibly when the panel is first loaded. Although invisible, the menu is still active, thus disabling the panel clickspots. The button to close the 'Quick Tips' is somewhere near the altimeter (see picture). So, if I'm correct, disabling the 'Quick Tips' should solve the problem.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Gosta,I'm sorry I didn't explain it more clearly, but you got the drift of what I was trying to put across. I did disable the "Quick Tips" and bingo! It pops up correct and ready to go to work.Hey! thanks a whole bunch. This makes flying the 767s a lot more fun.jim in NM

Hi Jim,glad I could help. One more thing, though, in case you need to reinstall PIC and the same thing happens again. Although invisible, the 'Quick Tips' screen is still active, so rather than having to restart FS, just move your mouse near the heading bug button on the Altimeter, until you find the clickspot for the 'cancel' button (see picture in previous message), click on it and full panel functionality is restored.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...&conf=DCConfID6If you scroll up to the top of this page and click on "Conferences" it will take you to the main forums page. Scroll down and the "Radar Contact" forum is just above the 767 Pilot in Command Forum.
