CH USB Yoke Setup Help for PIC 767

Featured Replies

Hi folks,Can anyone help help me with the proper setup of my CH Products USB Yoke for use with the PIC 767?Thanks!

I am fairly new to the CH USB Yoke myself. I run Windows XP and did not use the CH software at all. I have been going with the FS2002 default settings for the control axis. I did adjust sensitivity for the rudder pedals but that's another story. Everything handles REAL NICE. Most of the buttons/switches are set to what I believe is a personal preference. Some will tell you that the latest CH software offers improved performance but I have yet to try it because of my "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality coupled with my failure to get the out of the box software to work at all. I would be open to hearing the details of what and how others are handling this.

I had problems past tense. FSUIPC is a must and then programme the buttons through that interface.Set the axis (cant remember the plural) via the FS2002 interface and tweak range of movement via the FSuipc interfaceI have Speed brake, Eng 1,Eng 2 on the leversGrey Toggle switch 1 is Gear, Toggle 2 is flaps Top of the pistolgrip red buttons left = Autopilot dis/engage Right= Transmit via Roger wilcoTop two red buttons on the lefthand grip, seat raise (for landing) and cycle views. The two twoway gray buttons are electric trimAnd then there is the POV hat switchI found the CH software was as much use as a free holiday in Bagdad during the first week in Feb 2003!Good Luck

Hi!Here is my situation for CH:I use CH-Flightyoke-light-USB, Pedals-USB and FSUIPC to remove the rudder-spikes and set calibration. Now its easy to taxi and hold direction while landing/starting. The yoke works flawless but for the pedals I lost a good rudder-control for example while decrabbing in a crosswind-landing since I use the spike-option of FSUIPC. My rudder-effectivenes is 24, switching off the yawdamper and setting effectivenes to 4 makes the aircraft go crazy after touchdown. Maybe my computer is not fast enough, but there was a time, when rudder-control was great at least for a day. I have to calibrate the pedals every time after startup and I

Hi,Have a look at my home page in my flight simulator. I am using the CH Control Manager software and for some settings I use FSUIPC. The CH Control Manager gives you the possibility of a non linear response curve for your ailerons and elevator, which I like very much. However, the set up is a matter of personal taste and of other possibilties available (buttons on a Throttle and so on).Regards,KiekEHAMhomepage: http://home.planet.nl/~nwkaan/

Thanks for the replies guys... What would really be helpful is settings specific to setup of the ailerons, elevator, etc... Can anyone share the setup of those?Thanks....

Keik,Great stuff there on your web site. I ran across one of your posts on the VATSIM newsgroup a couple weeks ago and even referred someone on another newsgroup to your link. Very nice job documenting your setup.

Michael,Thankx. By the way: I like your PIC On VATSIM logo, it's also very appropriate for my web site, except for the AAL part of course, change that to a KLM livery and I'm in business ;-)Cheers!KiekEHAMhttp://home.planet.nl/~nwkaan/

Hey CZ!I just pulled the null zone all the way down (No Null) and then pulled back the sensitivity to about 70%. That resulted in a big improvemnent for me.

OK All-I'm desperately trying to get this to work right. I've attempted to follow everyone's advise above. I can get the toe brakes to work and the rudders, but the brakes are so darn sensitive. All you have to do is blow on them, and you're braking.I'm frustrated to no end. Has anyone had anymore luck with this?Help!!Brian

> I can get the toe brakes to work and the rudders, but the brakes > are so darn sensitive. All you have to do is blow on them, and > you're braking. Hi BrianHave the same exact problem, which is especially annoying upon take-off (with my feet on the rudder to maintain the a/c centered, all of sudden Rejected Take-Off activates).>>I'm frustrated to no end. Has anyone had anymore luck with >this? One simple solution is to set the null zone for the brake axes to a high value (e.g. 30-50%) in FS2002 sensitivity settings. I am currently working on an alternative solution involving CH Control Manager (inspired by the ideas described on kiek's great web page). Will let you know soon about my findings.Adam KLOU/KSDF

Following the info on kiek's web page I went to CH Control Manager and created a Virtual Control Device no. 1 with 6 axes and they are:1 - ailerons (yoke)2 - elevators (yoke)3 - rudder (pedals)4 - throttle (yoke)5 - thrust reverser (yoke - mixture lever)6 - spoilers (yoke - propeller lever)button assignments are not important at this pointFurthermore, added a second Virtual Control Device with only 2 axes used (out of 4 or 6, doesn't matter) and they are:1 - left toe brake 2 - right toe brakeUse CHstart everytime you run FS2002 and the Virtual Devices will be activated (see kiek's page). Now, for some reason, FS2002 makes it possible to adjust sensitivities in an advanced mode only for one device. Hence, I use advanced (individual) sensitivity settings for Virt. Dev. 1 and simple (group) settings for Virt. Dev. 2 (toe brakes). This way I can increase the null zone for the brakes (eliminate the noise) without affecting the rudder.Another great benefit from using the CH Control Manager are the nonlinear transfer characteristics. They represent the way humans handle control tasks more naturally, as compared to the linear ones (make my hand-flown ILS landings much smoother).Hope this is "followable" :-)Adam
