February 28, 200323 yr Hey guys...I just have a quick question regarding the FMC database. Now, I have had this problem for a while and I know what might be the problem...and quite frankly I'm embarassed to say this. I think my problem would be that I have not been downloading the AIRAC files. But I need a second opinion on this. My problem is on few occassion, when I type in a NAV aid on the FMC, I get the message NOT IN DATABASE, I dont know if anyone has encountered this problem. If it so happens to be related to the abovementioned file, damn me. I hope someone out there has an idea what the problem might be.thanks
February 28, 200323 yr Almost sure it is because you are not down loading the AIRAC cycles, however you do not say where you are getting the NAVAID name from.Example, from the way I flight plan using FSNav.I update the navdata as soon as the airac cycle is out so FSNav & the 767PIC FMC data is current but lets say I only down loaded the FSNav data.I plan the route in FSNav and then enter it into the 767PIC FMC. One of the navaids in the FSNav route is new or has changed its airway assignment. I would expect the FMC to complain with 'not in database' or, in the case of an airway change, 'Invalid entry'.If you fly on line you really should use the latest data as vatsim ATC do.HTH
February 28, 200323 yr Actually the answer to your question is, "It depends." :-)Assuming you are using the ROUTE page, if you enter an intersection or geographic fix that is not a part of an airway and press the left LSK you will get a "NOT IN DATABASE" message. In this situation you need to press a right LSK which will enter the intersection or fix into the FMC as a "direct" waypoint. The left column of the Route page, titled "VIA" is only for airway entries.Of course, it could also mean that the Navaid you're looking for is not in any of your databases and you need to download the AIRAC updates.
February 28, 200323 yr thanks guys for the reply...I'll give you an example...during the last PIC even...I was preparing my flight plan and I entered LGAV and got the same message....the other time I was inputing an airway provided to us by our VA during one of our fly-in and typed in the FMS (using the route page) and got the same message...now it might be the AIRAC cylce thats the problem. but as you guys put it, it depends on a number of things.
February 28, 200323 yr LGAV was not included in FS2002 and its probably not in the default Navdata that comes with 767 PIC. In that case, updating the Navdata to the current AIRAC cycle will help. But you'll still have to install LGAV scenery since its missing entirely in FS2002 and also update your AFD files to include this new airport.
February 28, 200323 yr It has also happened to other NAV aid...but I'll download the current AIRAC cylcle this evening after work and see what happens. I'll let you guys know.thanks
