March 4, 200323 yr Hello, I've some doubts in real/virtual procedures like takeoff and abort takeoff. So..1)The PIC 767 takeoff procedure should be: - Spoilers Armed - Flaps sets - Autobrakes: RTO - A/T Arm: ON - TMC: T/O mode - release brakes - throttles forwards to 70% until stable - press N1 to automatically set thrust to TMC T/O power or manually set throttles to TMC T/O power green marks (I prefer) - speed alive, 80, V1, Vr, V2, etc.. Now:IN CASE OF ABORT TAKEOFF before V1 with N1 pressed:I quickly set throttles to idle but.. N1 button remains pressed, so the engines power returns immediatly to T/O power: I must turn OFF A/T! Speed brakes not deployed and revers not engaged! Only auto-brakes seems to work fine! Not so quicky abort... IN CASE OF ABORT TAKEOFF before V1 with manual T/O power sets:I quickly set throttles to idle, the engines power drops to idle but.. speed brakes not deployed and revers not engaged! Only auto-brakes seems to work fine! Now,I think the captain don't press the N1 button at takeoff, and I think in case of abort takeoff, spoilers and reverse are AUTOMATICALLY set! Or not?So I ask: Wich are the REAL B763 takeoff/abort takeoff procedures? Thank you very much!Mirko (I-MASI)ITALYVirtual Avio Club Padovahttp://www.acvpadova.netPPL F.I.V.S.http://www.fivs.itVirtuAlitalia Pilothttp://www.virtualitalia.it
March 4, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Mirko.First of all, you do not set the spoilers to arm. The 767 is not equipped with auto reversers. So in case of an abort before V1, but above 80 kts, all you need to do is reduce thrust to idle (the A/T will be in THR HLD and won't try to add T/O thrust). In case both engines are still working, you can add reverse thrust. Spoilers are automatically deployed whenever a thrust reverser is activated, so you don't have to deploy them manually. If no reverse thrust is available, deploy the spoilers manually. For an abort below 80 kts, you will have to disconnect the A/T first and then reduce power to idle. From then on the same applies as above.RegardsMark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
March 4, 200323 yr Thanks to everyone!PS: only the PIC 767 didn't have auto reverse, or the real 767 too?Mirko (I-MASI)Virtual Avio Club Padovahttp://www.acvpadova.netPPL F.I.V.S.http://www.fivs.itVirtuAlitalia Pilothttp://www.virtualitalia.it
March 4, 200323 yr No, the real aircraft has no auto-reversers.In a rejected takeoff it is (multi-crew actions)1. Thrust levers to idle (as stated below 80kts with N1 annunciated the autothrottle is disconnected with the thrust lever disconnect switch,2. Reverse levers to the interlock,3. All available reverse on operating engines ,4. Monitor RTO autobrake operation (The autobrake selector does not go to disarm with manual braking like the other settings so the autobrake light must be monitored),5. Confirm speedbrake is up with reverser activation, otherwise manually raise,6. Call speeds (80kts and 60kts are our company calls) to allow reverser stowage,7. Notify the tower (fire tenders if abort above 100kts, note abort groundspeed for brake cooling schedule),8. Advise cabin crew via the company procedure as a high speed abort may lead to an evacuation. It all happens very quickly, and from V1 it gets the heart rate going!
March 4, 200323 yr OK, I understand but.. I have much "cockpits VHS video" (Cockpits in Flight, ITTV Television, etc. - B737, MD80, BAe146, etc) and I have never seen a captain to press a button befor or during takeoff, but only to move forward the throttles. Why?Thank you! Mirko (I-MASI)ITALYVirtual Avio Club Padovahttp://www.acvpadova.netPPL F.I.V.S.http://www.fivs.itVirtuAlitalia Pilothttp://www.virtualitalia.it
March 4, 200323 yr Commercial Member Some aircraft, such as the 747-400 use the TO/GA switch to use the Autothrottle to set takeoff thrust. This switch is directly on the thrust levers, so you won't really see this on a video.Other aircraft, such as modern airbuses, have detens on the thrust levers and once you move the lever fully forward, it will set thrust automatically. It's a little more complex than this, but I hope you get the picture. On the 767 however you have to press the N1 switch directly on the MCP. If the aircraft in question was a 767 and no button was pressed on the MCP, then manual thrust was used for the takeoff roll.RegardsMark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
March 4, 200323 yr Ok, now is really all ok!Thanks to all!I have never seen so active and efficent newsgroup!Bye ;-)Mirko (I-MASI)ITALYVirtual Avio Club Padovahttp://www.acvpadova.netPPL F.I.V.S.http://www.fivs.itVirtuAlitalia Pilothttp://www.virtualitalia.it
March 4, 200323 yr I have never seen so active and efficent newsgroup! This sums it up - a 4 year old product (I think if we take EE's original pre wilco incarnation) or is it longer, still generate the best forum! Why will noone push the envelope with this product cos even after all this time it is still the best!Steve
