March 28, 200323 yr Hello,When I use my flaps the sound keeps rumbling? I only can stop it by on/off the sound in FS?Also, when landing 2000FT from the RWY I alway's dissable my autopilotto land it by hand. Before that the approache mode was active. Its not possible for me to get the plane down for more then 1500FT a minute?....so if I try to pitch it down for 4000FT a minute ore more using my yoke and the autopilot off, its not possible? Its like the plane is still on the locelizer mode ore something...with the Autopilot disengage it must be possible the take the descent rate you want???What am I doing wrong?ThanksKappa
March 28, 200323 yr Kappa,Issue 1 - Does this noise only occur with the landing gear down?If yes, then this is a known issue of excessive landing gear wind noise Issue 2 - On an approach, either Visual, ILS, VOR or DME you should aim for a descent rate of around 700fpm. To check the descent rate use the VSI. Too high a descent rate will result in a hard landing, inevitabely short of the runway.Too low a descent rate will result in a runway excursion. Most ILS approaches follow a 3 degree glidepath.Have the Flight Director on, and the ILS course and frequency tuned with Approach Mode selected. Disengage the Autopilot and make sure you are stabilised in the approach by about 1000ft.You should be able to handfly the 767 all the way down the approach.I use a CH yoke without problems.Only wish I had rudder pedals to make it easier.Mark
March 28, 200323 yr Re flaps rumbling sound, this happens to me on most aircraft, but on this aircraft it seems worse going from no flap to 1, where it can last over a minute after the flap has actually extended. If it annoys me, I do as you do, namely hit Q twice. No other solution that I'm aware of.Re pitch resistance issue, just make sure that you are disengaging the AP by pulling the AP disconnect bar on bottom right of AP panel, and flick the A/T ARM switch on this same panel to off to regain manual throttle control. These two actions should kill the AP completely and allow you full authority to pitch as required. Having to descend at greater than 1500ft per minute when at 2000ft on the glideslope suggests to me that you are not properly established on the glideslope when you are wanting to disconnect the AP, hence you might want to ensure that you are on APP mode and established on both GS and LOC, rather than being in LOC mode only. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
March 28, 200323 yr Most ILS approaches follow a 3 degree glidepath Mark is on the money {as always :)}. This is also true when hand flying the bird on approach. RESET THE MCP ALT might have a good point too that you want to make sure you are really turning off the autopilot correctly. Try pushing the dissconnect bar on the MCP or hit Z. I can nose dive without any difficulties not that I want to do that!Best Wishes, Randy J. March 29, 200323 yr Hello all, Thanks for all the tips...the last one was the best for me ;.....hope you read this too Randy? ;)...and, "of course" I'm aware off the approach pitch around 700FT per minute!!! ;).....it was only an example!.....in other words: If I wantto decent 2000FT a minute after shuttingdown the AP and all other automatic things like Auto throttle, the plane must react but it doesn't....try it your self for a test!!HOW?....at 2000FT from RWY, dissable your auto pilot after your where loct on the locelizer.....then try to decent more then 2000FT, and see whats happening...(its still loct or something...strange!?)Does someone know why the flapssound keeps rumbling and how I can fix it?....(more users seems to experience this!)........press Q twice is an option I already know.Kappa
March 29, 200323 yr Sorry I did not know I was asking a question plus I qouted RESET MCP ALT in my post. I really think that the sound you are talking about is the gear noise and not the flaps. I have no problem with any descent rate either at 800FPM-2000FPM and I fly all my approaches manualy :)Best Wishes, Randy J. April 13, 200323 yr Kappa, take a look at this diagram.this shows the correct techniques for establishing on the localiser and flying an ils approach - hope this helps.Autopilot can be disengaged at any time in the approach.A high rate of descent will result in a GPWS warning - Pull UP, Pull Up, Terrain, Terrain.Mark
