April 14, 200323 yr I have a question. How does the approach on PIC works? When i set the right frequency and when i push the app button the aircraft starts to turn right, and then it chrashes! Am I doing anything wrong?Best RegardsJohan
April 14, 200323 yr Well could be, can you tell us at which airfield you were trying an approach on? What was your speed set to? What altitude were you at etc? Then maybe we can help you out.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. April 15, 200323 yr This has happened to me a few times. I pressed the heading select button on the autopilot as soon as the aircraft started to turn. I then pressed the approach button again and all was well.Don't know if this helps.Phil

Am I>doing anything wrong?Yes crashing! :-) OK, first off, you have to have the correct ILS frequency for the runway set and the correct course set in the OBS (the offset heading of the runway) . Secondly, establish from below the glideslope at no more that 30 degrees intercept angle and max 180 knots with 15 degrees of flap. As you start to see the localiser needle move towards the centre, click on LOC, (loc will show in white on the PFD) the a/c should start the turn to intercept as the needle moves across, the LOC indication will turn green to show localiser capture. then click on GS, the same procedure will happen, first GS in white on the PFD then changing to green as you capture the glideslope. As the GS needle starts to move down, select gear down, reduce to 160 knots and select 20 flap. As you reach about 4 miles DME from the runway, further reduce to final approach speed and then select flaps 30. By now all autopilots should turn green and LAND3 should illuminate. You can autoland if you want, or disconnect a/p and land manually at decision hieght (or whenever you feel comfortable)Short dissertion, written in haste from memory. I havent flown the PIC 767 for a few weeks, so apologies if I'm a bit off but the general idea is right.Good luckregardsTim
