Is this piece of software bug-ridden, or what? ;-)Flying MCO-ATL yesterday, I suddenly noticed something amber during the takeoff roll at a hot Orlando Intl. I looked down at the EICAS and saw that the EGT dials and readouts were indeed amber colored - the EGT had reached its maximum continuous limit. Some manual digging produced this:"The EGT indication has a maximum continuous limit represented by an amber band. If EGT reaches the maximum continuous limit, the digital indication, box, pointer, and dial all change color to amber. The EGT indication is inhibited from changing to amber during takeoff or go

Full Power Take Off Required.:-hah

Nah, I don't think so - pretty light load on that flight.Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

Orlando is a hot and humid place.Makes more sense to go with a full power take off, even if lightly loaded than a derated Take Off and get Amber EGT warnings.

But my point was that you wouldn't get any amber EGT readouts on the real aircraft because that's inhibited for five minutes on takeoff. (And that no-one has mentioned this blatant bug in two years is quite interesting. ;-))Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

It's not that 'distracting' to the seasoned PF/PIC767 as your eyes are out the window in front at takeoff, no?? ;-)...and it is nice to know the engines are getting warm. I am not that shocked it went by without much attention. PSS Scarebus has the message inhibitor for takeoff and I don't like it...give me all the warnings, I'll decide if they need to be inhibited in my brain. This is contrary to the Airbus philosophy which assumes the pilots have no brains of their own :-) Rob.

On second thought, I will let someone else say it...

I didn't mean to offend...did I say something wrong?

I'm not offended :-) I was "sighing" about the "bug" comment anyway...Mike's right.

Bug alert? I would call it something that was *overlooked* and for the fact that no one has mentioned it shows you why maybe? I asked Wade not long ago why the transition 250/10000 was not removed from the FMC after passing the transition, which it should, no biggie, Wade said he overlooked it. Bring it to his attention, not as a bug, but as something that you think should be in the next version...[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]Are You Ready For The Next Great one? >It's not that 'distracting' to the seasoned PF/PIC767 as your>eyes are out the window in front at takeoff, no?? ;-)I guess I've mostly been flying at higher latitudes, where high EGTs aren't encountered as often. :-)>PSS Scarebus has the message inhibitor for takeoffDon't forget real "Scarebus"... has it too.>This is contrary to the Airbus philosophy which assumes the pilots have no brains of their own :-) Also contrary to Boeing (I mean "Scaroeing"... nah, doesn't sound very good) philosophy, as they are also inhibiting certain warnings and indications on takeoff and landing (as shown in my little "bug" example, which by the way was not at all the flamebait that some interpreted it to be... oh well).Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing

Did you follow normal procedures for takeoff, Martin? The normal 5 minute amber inhibit is only valid if "TO" or "GA" is annunciated. If not annunciated, a mere 20 second inhibit applies.Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian.P.S. And speaking of realism.... What's this guy smoking?http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=3822&page=I've never seen a more "photorealistic" overhead panel than the one in PIC (excluding big sims and real airplanes)
